Vertical profiling of Saharan dust with Raman lidars and airborne HSRL in southern Morocco during SAMUM

TL;DR: In this paper, three ground-based Raman lidars and an airborne high-spectral-resolution lidar were operated during SAMUM 2006 in southern Morocco to measure height profiles of the volume extinction coefficient, the extinction-to-backscatter ratio and the depolarization ratio of dust particles in the Saharan dust layer at several wavelengths.
Journal ArticleDOI

Four-dimensional distribution of the 2010 Eyjafjallajökull volcanic cloud over Europe observed by EARLINET

Gelsomina Pappalardo, +62 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors show the four-dimensional (4-D) distribution of the Eyjafjallajokull volcanic cloud in the troposphere over Europe as observed by EARLINET during the entire volcanic event (15 April-26 May 2010).
Journal ArticleDOI

Monitoring Etna volcanic plumes using a scanning LiDAR

TL;DR: In this article, the authors used data obtained from LiDAR measurements during an ash emission event on 15 November 2010 at Mt. Etna, in Italy, in order to evaluate the spatial distribution of volcanic ash in the atmosphere.
Journal ArticleDOI

Volcanic ash concentration during the 12 August 2011 Etna eruption

TL;DR: In this article, the authors used a video-surveillance system to estimate variations in the column height with time and derived the time-varying discharge rate (peak value of 60m3/s−1) and determined the ash concentration using a volcanic ash dispersal model.
