Journal ArticleDOI

Examining the transplacental passage of apixaban using the dually perfused human placenta

TL;DR: The objective was to determine the rate and extent of the placental transfer of apixaban, a novel oral anticoagulant that has not been studied in pregnant patients, and its effects on maternal andfetal levels.
Journal Article

Safety and efficacy of St. John's wort (hypericum) during pregnancy and lactation.

TL;DR: Caution is warranted with the use of St John's wort during pregnancy until further high quality human research is conducted to determine its safety, and the evidence for commonly used herbs during pregnancy and lactation is systematically reviewed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effects of maternal occupational exposure to organic solvents on offspring visual functioning: a prospective controlled study.

TL;DR: It is suggested that occupational exposure to organic solvents during pregnancy is associated with an increased risk of color vision and visual acuity impairment in offspring, and the importance of routine visual function screening in risk assessment after prenatal exposure to chemicals warrants further attention.
Journal ArticleDOI

Antidepressant use in pregnancy and persistent pulmonary hypertension of the newborn (PPHN): a systematic review.

TL;DR: There appears to be a small but significantly, increased risk of late pregnancy SSRI exposure associated with PPHN, but if a pregnant woman requires pharmacological treatment, this information does not support discontinuation or lowering the dose of the antidepressant.
Journal Article

Amitriptyline to relieve pain in juvenile idiopathic arthritis: a pilot study using Bayesian metaanalysis of multiple N-of-1 clinical trials.

TL;DR: It is unlikely that amitriptyline reduced pain by a clinically significant amount in these children with polyarticular JIA, but Bayesian techniques were used successfully to obtain estimates of population effect, despite the small number of participants.
