Journal ArticleDOI
Finite depth square well model: Applicability and limitations
TL;DR: In this paper, a finite depth square well model is used to model the size dependent band gap of semiconductor quantum structures and the effect of quantum structure dimensionality on their confinement.
Journal ArticleDOI
Circular Magnetoplasmonic Modes in Gold Nanoparticles
Francesco Pineider,Giulio Campo,Valentina Bonanni,César de Julián Fernández,Giovanni Mattei,Andrea Caneschi,Dante Gatteschi,Claudio Sangregorio +7 more
TL;DR: It is believed that the steep slope observed at the plasmon resonance in the MCD spectrum can be very efficient in detecting changes in the refractive index of the surrounding medium and a simple proof of principle of its possible implementation for magnetoplasmonic refractometric sensing is given.
Journal ArticleDOI
Au Nanoparticles in Nanocrystalline TiO2−NiO Films for SPR-Based, Selective H2S Gas Sensing
Enrico Della Gaspera,Massimo Guglielmi,Stefano Agnoli,Gaetano Granozzi,Michael L. Post,Valentina Bello,Giovanni Mattei,Alessandro Martucci +7 more
TL;DR: In this paper, thin films composed of Au nanoparticles dispersed inside a TiO2−NiO mixed oxide matrix are prepared by the sol−gel method, resulting in nanostructured composites with a morphology and crystallinity that depend on synthesis parameters and thermal treatment.
Journal ArticleDOI
Annealing behavior of silver, copper, and silver-copper nanoclusters in a silica matrix synthesized by the sol-gel technique
Goutam De,M. Gusso,Leander Tapfer,Massimo Catalano,Francesco Gonella,Giovanni Mattei,P. Mazzoldi,Giancarlo Battaglin +7 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the formation of Ag-Cu phase-separated clusters was observed at temperatures that depend on the annealing atmosphere, with a subsequent evaporation occurring at the sample surface.
