Global, regional, and national disease burden estimates of acute lower respiratory infections due to respiratory syncytial virus in young children in 2015: a systematic review and modelling study

Ting Shi, +138 more
- 02 Sep 2017 -
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors estimated the incidence and hospital admission rate of RSV-associated acute lower respiratory infection (RSV-ALRI) in children younger than 5 years stratified by age and World Bank income regions.
Journal ArticleDOI

Characterization of Low- and Very-Low-Density Hepatitis C Virus RNA-Containing Particles

TL;DR: The results suggest that the infectivity of LVP is mediated by endogenous proteins rather than by viral components providing a mechanism of escape from the humoral immune response.
Journal ArticleDOI

Molecular identification of a novel retrovirus repeatedly isolated from patients with multiple sclerosis

TL;DR: Whether MSRV represents an exogenous retrovirus with closely related endogenous elements or a replication-competent, virion-producing, endogenous provirus is as yet unknown, and further molecular epidemiological studies are required to determine precisely the apparent association of virions containing MSRv RNA with MS.
Journal ArticleDOI

The impact of dual viral infection in infants admitted to a pediatric intensive care unit associated with severe bronchiolitis.

TL;DR: Dual viral infection is a relevant risk factor for the admission of infants with severe bronchiolitis to the PICU, and Respiratory syncytial virus and rhinovirus were the viruses most frequently identified in mixed infections in infants hospitalized in both units.
Journal ArticleDOI

Detection of virion-associated MSRV-RNA in serum of patients with multiple sclerosis

TL;DR: In MS patients, detection of MSRV-RNA was not associated with age, sex, disease duration, or MS type, but a statistically significant negative correlation with treatment was observed and cross-contamination prevention measures of Kwok and Higuchi 2 were strictly employed throughout.
