Journal ArticleDOI

Variation in capsaicin contents of different Capsicum species and lines by varying drying parameters.

TL;DR: The capsaicin contents of different Capsicum species and lines were affected by harvest time and drying parameters and the highest capsicin content was obtained from the solar tunnel drying at the second harvest in the local Capsicum line Aci Cicek 52.
Journal ArticleDOI

Genetic diversity assessment in Nicotiana tabacum L. with iPBS-retrotransposons

TL;DR: This is first study to explore the genetic diversity of Turkish tobacco by the iPBS-retrotransposons and it is believed that the results will serve as a foundation for the development of new and improved tobacco varieties in Turkey and the rest of world.
Journal ArticleDOI

Antimicrobial activity and agricultural properties of bitter melon (Momordica charantia L.) grown in northern parts of Turkey: a case study for adaptation

TL;DR: This study was designed to determine the adaptation capability of bitter melon, which is widely grown in tropical and subtropical climates, in northern parts of Turkey, and fruits were found to have antimicrobial activity against A. niger and E. coli.
Journal ArticleDOI

Variation in the fruit phytochemical and mineral composition, and phenolic content and antioxidant activity of the fruit extracts of different fennel (Foeniculum vulgare L.) genotypes

TL;DR: According to the dendrogram analysis, fennel genotypes of the same origin were found in different groups regardless of geographical origin and NSL6409 genotype was found superior in case of phenolic amounts and antioxidant activity as compared with other genotypes.
Journal ArticleDOI

Herb yield and chemical composition of basil (ocimum basilicum l) essential oil in relation to the different harvest period and cultivation conditions

TL;DR: The lowest essential content obtained in open-field and between kiwi plantations for green and purple basil plants was even higher than the limit established by Turkish Standards Institution and total yield concerned with fresh and dry herb yield complied with the previously proposed literatures.
