TL;DR: In this paper, the p-acylbenzylsulphonium halides with a salt A X = a proton, ammonium cation or cation from main group 1) in solvents are used for the production of relief images and resist patterns.
Abstract: 4-Acylbenzylsulphonium salts of the formula I in which n = 0 or 1, m = 1 or 2, and m + n = 2 and X is a non-nucleophilic anion, can be prepared by reacting readily accessible p-acylbenzylsulphonium halides with a salt A X = a proton, ammonium cation or cation from main group 1) in solvents. They are advantageous photoinitiators for cationically curable mixtures and photocurable recording materials, in particular for the production of relief images and resist patterns.

TL;DR: In this paper, water-absorbing, cellular, cross-linked polymers are obtained by the following steps: (I) expanding a polymerizable aqueous mixture which contains (a) monoethylenically unsaturated monomers that contain acidic groups and that are optionally neutralized, (b) optionally other monoethylensaturated monomer, (c) cross-linking agents, (d) initiators, (e) 0.1 to 20 wt.-%.
Abstract: The invention relates to water-absorbing, cellular, cross-linked polymers which are obtained by the following steps: (I) expanding a polymerizable aqueous mixture which contains (a) monoethylenically unsaturated monomers that contain acidic groups and that are optionally neutralized, (b) optionally other monoethylenically unsaturated monomers, (c) cross-linking agents, (d) initiators, (e) 0.1 to 20 wt.-%. of at least one surfactant, (f) optionally at least one solubilizer and (g) optionally thickeners, foam stabilizers, polymerization controllers, fillers and/or nucleating agents. A gas that is inert vis-a-vis radicals is dissolved in the polymerizable aqueous mixture at a pressure of 2 to 400 bar to expand the mixture and the mixture is then relaxed to atmospheric pressure; (II) polymerizing the expanded mixture while forming a cellular hydrogel and optionally adjusting the water content of the cellular polymer to 1 to 60 wt.-%. The invention further relates to methods for producing water-absorbing, cellular, cross-linked polymers and to the use of said polymers in hygiene articles that are used for absorbing body fluids, in dressings for covering wounds, as sealing material, as soil conditioner, soil substitute and as packaging material.

TL;DR: In this article, a playing card dispensing shoe is used to detect the card suits and card values of the playing cards as they are moved past a card scanner and a central processing unit (CPU) determines the progress of the play of the game and, by identifying card counting systems or basic playing strategies in use by the players, provides means to limit or prevent casino losses and calculate the theoretical win of the casino.
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a playing card dispensing shoe apparatus, system and method wherein the shoe has a card scanner which scans the indicia on a playing card as the card moves along and out of a chute of the shoe by operation of the dealer. The scanner comprises an optical-sensor used in combination with a neural network which is trained using error back-propagation to recognize the card suits and card values of the playing cards as they are moved past the scanner. The scanning process in combination with a central processing unit (CPU) determines the progress of the play of the game and, by identifying card counting systems or basic playing strategies in use by the players of the game, provides means to limit or prevent casino losses and calculate the Theoretical Win of the casino, thus also providing an accurate quality method of the amount of comps to be given a particular player. The shoe is also provided with additional devices which make it simple and easy to access, record and display other data relevant to the play of the game. These include means for acconunodating a “customer-tracking card” which reads each player's account information from a magnetic stripe on the card, thus providing access to the player's customer data file stored on the casino's computer system, and one or more alpha-numeric keyboards and LCD displays used to enter and retrieve player and game information. Also included are keyboards on the game table so that each player can individually select various playing or wagering options using their own keyboard.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present novel compositions of therapeutic cyclodextrin containing polymeric compounds designed as a carrier for small molecule therapeutics delivery and pharmaceutical compositions thereof, which improve drug stability and solubility, and reduce toxicity of the small molecule therapeutic when used in vivo.
Abstract: The present invention relates to novel compositions of therapeutic cyclodextrin containing polymeric compounds designed as a carrier for small molecule therapeutics delivery and pharmaceutical compositions thereof. These cyclodextrin-containing polymers improve drug stability and solubility, and reduce toxicity of the small molecule therapeutic when used in vivo. Furthermore, by selecting from a variety of linker groups and targeting ligands the polymers present methods for controlled delivery of the therapeutic agents. The invention also relates to methods of treating subjects with the therapeutic compositions described herein. The invention further relates to methods for conducting pharmaceutical business comprising manufacturing, licensing, or distributing kits containing or relating to the polymeric compounds described herein.

TL;DR: In this paper, a process for device fabrication and resist materials that are used in the process is described, where the resist material contains a polymer that contains monomeric units that contain alicyclic formate moieties, and at least one other type of unit.
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a process for device fabrication and resist materials that are used in the process. The resist material contains a polymer that contains monomeric units that contain alicyclic formate moieties, and at least one other type of monomeric unit. The polymer may be formed by polymerization or by polymer modification of an existing polymer, and the resulting polymer either has alicyclic moieties incorporated into the polymer backbone or pendant to the polymer backbone via saturated hydrocarbon linkages. A preferred polymerization process is free radical polymerization, in which other monomers are selected for polymerization with the alicyclic moiety-containing monomer on the basis of the ability of the monomer to copolymerize by free radical polymerization. Although the polymers are contemplated as useful in resist materials that are sensitive to radiation in the ultraviolet, and x-ray wavelengths as well as sensitive to electron beam radiation, the polymers are particularly advantageous for use in process in which the exposing radiation is 193 nm, because the amount of ethylenic unsaturation in these resist materials is low.
