Journal ArticleDOI
Ferritin: a versatile building block for bionanotechnology.
TL;DR: This paper presents a meta-analyses of the chiral stationary phase of the response of the immune system to various types of materials and shows clear patterns of decline in the immune systems of mice treated with these materials.
Journal ArticleDOI
Self-assembly of tobacco mosaic virus at oil/water interfaces.
Jinbo He,Zhongwei Niu,Ravisubhash Tangirala,Jia-Yu Wang,Xinyu Wei,Gagandeep Kaur,Qian Wang,Günther Jutz,Alexander Böker,Alexander Böker,Byeongdu Lee,Sai Venkatesh Pingali,Pappannan Thiyagarajan,Todd Emrick,Thomas P. Russell +14 more
TL;DR: It is found that the inter-rod repulsive forces between TMVs dominated the in-plane packing, which was strongly affected by the ionic strength and the bulk solution but not by the pH in the range of pH = 6-8.
Journal ArticleDOI
Bionanoparticles as functional macromolecular building blocks – A new class of nanomaterials
Günther Jutz,Alexander Böker +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors introduce the structural principles of well-defined protein complexes and exemplarily describe the structure of a few selected plant viruses and ferritin, and an updated overview of grafting-on-and graft-from polymerization methods for the modification of proteins and protein complexes.
Journal ArticleDOI
Bio-inorganic microcapsules from templating protein- and bionanoparticle-stabilized Pickering emulsions
TL;DR: In this article, protein-stabilized oil-in-water Pickering emulsions formed a versatile scaffold for the mineralization with calcium phosphate, and the formation of thin and rigid mineral shells could be readily achieved.
Journal ArticleDOI
The biological transformation of industrial manufacturing - Technologies, status and scenarios for a sustainable future of the German manufacturing industry
Robert Miehe,Thomas Bauernhansl,M. Beckett,Christian Brecher,A. Demmer,Welf-Guntram Drossel,P. Elfert,Johannes Full,Arvid Hellmich,J. Hinxlage,Jessica Horbelt,Günther Jutz,S. Krieg,Christophe Maufroy,M. Noack,Alexander Sauer,Ursula Schließmann,Peter Scholz,Oliver Schwarz,M. ten Hompel,Philipp Wrycza,Markus Wolperdinger +21 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors present results of the first systematic assessment of the biological transformation of the German manufacturing industry and identify ten fields of action for setting the course for a sustainable industrial value creation.
