TL;DR: In this paper, the diversity of zooplankton communities in Heggere tank, Kanale varies with the physico-chemical parameters of water, which indicates the nutrient status of water body.
Abstract: The present study reveals that the diversity of zooplankton communities in Heggere tank, Kanale varies with the physico-chemical parameters of water. The presence of different zooplankton community indicates the nutrient status of water body. The zooplankton communities were recorded more during the post monsoon and pre monsoon seasons. However, the variation of physico-chemical parameters of water in relation to zooplankton population has been discussed in detail in this paper. The trend of monthly occurrence of zooplankton was found as cladocerans>copepods>rotifers>protozoans.

TL;DR: In this article, the seasonal variations of zooplankton and selected physico-chemical variables (temperature, pH, Secchi disc transparency, dissolved oxygen, free CO2, bicarbonate, chloride, nitrate, phosphate and silicate concentrations) in the swamp of Purnia for one annual cycle (March 2007 to February 2008).
Abstract: Zooplankters occupy an intermediate position in food web and are good indicators of the changes in water quality, because they are strongly affected by environmental conditions and respond quickly to changes in water quality. Hence, qualitative and quantitative studies of zooplankton are of great importance. The present study was undertaken to quantify the seasonal variations of zooplankton and selected physico-chemical variables (temperature, pH, Secchi disc transparency, dissolved oxygen, free CO2, bicarbonate, chloride, nitrate, phosphate and silicate concentrations) in the swamp of Purnia for one annual cycle (March 2007 to February 2008). The zooplankton taxa collected from the swamp water belong to three dominant groups viz. rotifers, cladocera and copepods. 26 zooplankton species were identified in which 17 belong to rotifer, 5 to cladocera and 4 to copepod. Rotifers were the most dominant group showing highest percentage (47.38%) composition and diversity followed by cladocera (39.64%) and copepod (12.98%). The zooplankton density in different seasons was in order of summer> winter > monsoon. The diversity of the overall zooplankton shows high in summer winter (H'= 0.964), summer (H'= 0.821) and less in monsoon (H'= 0.789). Density, diversity and composition of zooplankton also exhibited monthly variations. Brachionus, Keratella, Filiina, Cyclops and Diaptomus indicated organic pollution in the swamp. Zooplankters showed negative correlation with pH and DO2 in summer season as well as with free CO2, nitrate and phosphate during monsoon and winter. Further zooplankters exhibited negative correlation with water temperature and pH in monsoon and winter seasons respectively. The study established possible influences of the change in water quality to zooplankton population.

TL;DR: An investigation was carried out in Ramankere tank near Honalli of Davangere on physico-chemical characteristics and Planktonic composition during January to December 2011 as discussed by the authors.
Abstract: An investigation was carried out in Ramankere tank near Honalli of Davangere on physico-chemical characteristics and Planktonic composition during January to December 2011. The results of physico-chemical parameters were compared with the standard values prescribed by the Bureau of India Standards (BIS) and World Health Organization (WHO). The study revealed that, tank water is polluted as it possesses high BOD, CO2, phosphate and nitrogen. A total of 36 species belonging to 27genera of phytoplanktons were recorded, of which Bacillariophyceae and chlorophyceae were dominant. Eight zooplanktons and six macrophytes were also recorded. In the light of standard of water quality recommended by WHO, the tank water should not be used by human beings especially for drinking and cooking.

TL;DR: In this article, the physic o-chemical parameters like TDS, Total Hardness, Total Alkalinity, Nitrogen, NO 3 -, Cl -, SO 4 -2, Ca +2, Mg +2, and Phosphate were analyzed.
Abstract: Water samples were collected from konandur pond in Theerthalli (T). The physic o-chemical parameters like TDS, Total Hardness, Total Alkalinity, Nitrogen, NO 3 - , Cl - , SO 4 -2 , Ca +2 , Mg +2 , and Phosphate were analyzed. The results were considered for correlation analysis and it was observed that many of the parameters bear a good positive correlation and some bears a nega tive correlation. The study revealed th at, pond water was not much polluted. In the light of standard of water quality recommended by WHO, the pond water should be used for drinking and cooking after proper treatment.

TL;DR: Role of planktons as bioindicator in aquatic health as well as their role in survival of aquatic taxa of animals in river Gomti has been discussed.
Abstract: Gomti: One of the important river of Indo-gangetic system and perennial river of Awadh plains and run across the major part of U.P. covering nine districts and 940 Km stretch area. A study was carried out to observe phytoplankton diversity, density and distribution in three different seasons summer, monsoon and winter during 2012-13 at five different sites. Various genera of algae belonging to chlorophyceae viz. Chlamydomonas, Spirogyra, Oedogonium, Ulothrix, Hydrodictyon, Vaucheria, Scenedesmus, Desmidium, Zygnema, Mongeotia spp., Microspora spp., Gonium sociale, Pediastrum, Ranunculus aquatilis, Seven genera of bacillariophyceae viz. Stauroneis- pusilla ,Cosmarium –formosuhum, Micrasterias desmids, Synedra- ulna, Navicula- sphaerophor, Nitzschia stagnorum, Synura, Myxophyceae viz. Volvox aureus ,Oscillatoria ,Stigonema have been recorded. Phytoplanktons are significant formal natural occupier of all water bodies. Monitoring programmes of phytoplanktons are very important. They may provide information on possible new introductions and may serve as early warning system to detect the pollution level. Chlamydomonas , Ranunculus aquatilis Microspora spp, Volvox aureus were the most abundant followed by Ulothrix, Hydrodictyon, Desmidium. High concentration of diatoms at Daliganj bridge and Nishatganj bridge indicate polluted zone of the river. Oscillatoria and Stigonema spp. at polluted sites can be used as an indicator of organic pollution in the river. In the present study role of planktons as bioindicator in aquatic health as well as their role in survival of aquatic taxa of animals in river Gomti has been discussed. Proper biological and chemical treatment of domestic sewage and industrial effluents before discharge to river system is suggested.
