Optimal design of a grid-connected desalination plant powered by renewable energy resources using a hybrid PSO–GWO approach
TL;DR: In this article, a grid-connected hybrid renewable energy integrated with a reverse osmosis desalination plant to provide fresh water for a residential community was presented, where a new multi-objective hybrid Particle Swarm Optimization -Grey Wolf Optimizer (PSO-GWO) optimization method was used to obtain the optimal size of the different system components to minimize both the total cost of fresh water production and, at the same time, CO2 emissions, for a period of 20 years.
Journal ArticleDOI
Energy, exergy, exergoeconomic and enviroeconomic (4E) evaluation of a new integration of solar still with photovoltaic panel
TL;DR: In this paper, an assessment of new integration of solar still with photovoltaic module (PV) is performed, where the PV module is installed over the back side of the solar still while its output electrical power is converted directly to thermal heat to heat the saline water in the basin.
Journal ArticleDOI
Experimental study on the effect of coupling parabolic trough collector with double slope solar still on its performance
TL;DR: In this paper, the performance of coupling parabolic trough collector (PTC) with double slope solar still is investigated experimentally, and the results illustrate that the solar still with PTC has higher sill temperature and productivity compared with conventional solar still.
Journal ArticleDOI
Energetic and exergetic performance assessment of the inclusion of phase change materials (PCM) in a solar distillation system
TL;DR: In this article, the energy and exergetic performance enhancement of solar distillation system (solar still incorporated with PCM storage unit) is performed by using two techniques: pin fins heat sink (PF) is embedded inside the PCM to act as a thermal conductivity enhancer.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effects of graphene nanoplatelet addition to jatropha Biodiesel–Diesel mixture on the performance and emission characteristics of a diesel engine
TL;DR: In this article, the effects of adding graphene nanoplatelets (GNPs) into jatropha methyl ester-diesel blended fuel (20% by volume JB20 + 80% diesel) on the performance, combustion, and emission characteristics of a diesel engine were experimentally investigated.
