Modeling of fibrous filter media for ultrafine particle filtration

TL;DR: In this article, a 2D numerical model for fibrous filter media is presented, where the flow field and fates of particles are calculated in model filter media having the fiber size distribution, average solidity, and thickness the same as those of real media.
Journal ArticleDOI

Liquid filtration of nanoparticles through track-etched membrane filters under unfavorable and different ionic strength conditions: Experiments and modeling

TL;DR: In this paper, the adhesive torque of a particle located in the calculated primary minimum was slightly larger than the hydrodynamic torque, resulting in particle deposition, which could only explain the presence of additional hydration forces, leading to a larger separation at high ionic strengths.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of an Orifice on Collection Efficiency and Wall Loss of a Slit Virtual Impactor

TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of an orifice on the collection efficiency and wall loss of a slit virtual impactor was investigated both numerically and experimentally, and it was found that the orifice having the same width as the acceleration nozzle was placed upstream of the accelerating nozzle.
