The Bulletin of Environmental Contamination and Toxicology provides rapid publication of peer-reviewed articles describing significant advances and discoveries in the fields of air, soil, water, and food contamination and pollution as well as articles on methodology and other disciplines concerned with the introduction, presence and effects of toxicants in the total environment.  With its high standards of scientific quality and clarity, the Bulletin provides a meeting ground for research workers who daily encounter problems related to the contamination of our environment and who welcome opportunities to share in new discoveries as soon as they are made.

This part of the study highlights the contents of the published articles in terms of various disciplines or sub-disciplines and the bibliometric aspects discussed in these articles. The analysis of 902 papers published by Indian scholars during1995-2014 indicates that the main focus of bibliometrics/scientometrics is on assessment of science and technology in India in different sub-disciplines including contributions by Indian states and other individual countries followed by bibliometric analysis of individual journals. Papers dealing with bibliometric laws received a low priority as compared to other subdisciplines of bibliometrics/scientometrics. The analysis of data indicates that the share of theoretical studies using mathematical and statistical techniques which were missing in the earlier period (1970-1994) has increased during 1995-2014. The field of medicine as a discipline received the highest attention as compared to other disciplines.

Bibliometrics and scientometrics in India: An overview of studies during 1995-2014Part II: Contents of the articles in terms of disciplines and their bibliometric aspects

Using data from SCI 1998, we have analysed inter-national collaboration in science in 11 Asian countries. Papers resulting from collaboration among these countries and with G7, European Union, OECD and selected Latin American and African countries were classified under subject categories to characterize each country’s total and collaborated scientific literature output. Japan (16.4% of internationally collaborated papers), India (17.6%) and Taiwan (1 6.3%) recorded an internationalization index less than 30 whereas China (28.5%), South Korea (24.6%) and Hong Kong 8(36.2%) recorded an internationalization index greater than 40. India, China and South Korea have collab o-rated more in physics, whereas the o ther eight coun-tries have collaborated more in life sciences. In almost all fields and for virtually all Asian countries, USA is the most preferred collaborating partner. All G7 cou n-tries collaborate more with China, which is emerging as a leader in region al collaboration, than with India.

Trends and patterns in sustainable entrepreneurship research: A bibliometric review and research agenda

Purpose-Scholarly interest in interorganizational learning (IOL) has spiked in the past decade because of its potential to absorb, transfer and create valuable knowledge for enhanced innovative performance and sustained competitive advantage. However, only a handful of review studies exists on the topic. The evolution of IOL has not been studied explicitly and there is a lack of understanding of the field trends. To fill this gap, this paper aims to comprehensively review the literature on IOL and map its evolution and trends using bibliometric techniques. In particular, the authors use visualization of science mapping freeware to systematize the findings and interpret the results. Design/methodology/approach-The authors synthesize the findings using "evaluative bibliometric techniques" to identify the quality and quantity indicators of the IOL research and use "relational bibliometric techniques" to determine the structural indicators of the IOL field such as the intellectual foundations and emerging research themes of IOL research. Findings-Through an analysis of 208 journal publications obtained from the Scopus database, the authors determine the leading authors, countries, highly cited papers and their contributions to the IOL literature. By identifying the key hotspots, intellectual foundations and emerging trends of IOL, the authors provide promising avenues in IOL research. Originality/value-To the best of the knowledge, this study is the first to systematically review the IOL literature and provide future research directions.

Interorganizational learning: a bibliometric review and research agenda

An analysis of 801 papers published in the area of bibliometrics and scientometrics during 1995-2014 indicates a steep increase in the number of papers published by Indian researchers as compared to the number of papers published during 1970-1994 This indicates a growing interest of Indian scholars in scientometrics and bibliometrics The paper provides several reasons for this steep increase The main focus of research is on bibliometric assessment of India and other countries followed by cross national assessment and bibliometric analysis of individual journals CSIR-NISTADS is the top producing institute contributing about one-third (314%) of the total output followed by the output of Bhabha Atomic Research Centre and CSIR-NISCAIR The distribution of citation data indicates that about one-fifth (217%) papers remained uncited The paper identifies journals in which these uncited papers were published Only 15% papers were cited more than 20 times Most of the prolific authors as well as highly cited authors were from the institutions belonging to the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research Among all authors BM Gupta (CSIR-NISTADS) produced the highest number of papers, but the impact as seen in terms of citation per paper and relative citation impact, S Arunachalam (MSSRF) topped the list

Bibliometrics and scientometrics in India: An overview of studies during 1995-2014, Part I: Indian publication output and its citation impact

The paper analyses publication output of India on cereal crops as reflected by its coverage in Scopus international database during 1965-2010 in gaps of five years. Analysis indicates that highest number of papers (40%) was published on rice, followed by wheat (29%). Agricultural universities and institutions under the aegis of Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) were most productive. A significant number of papers were published in journals originating from the advanced countries with low impact factor. The highest number of papers was published in Indian Journal of Agricultural Sciences, followed by Indian Journal of Agronomy. Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi topped the list among the prolific institutions followed by Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana. The major research was focused on ‘genetics and plant breeding’ followed by ‘agronomic aspects’. The authorship pattern reveals that co-authored papers accounted for 94% of total output. Citation analysis of the study reveals that 22% of the papers remained uncited. Most of the prolific authors were affiliated to Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi.
