Journal ArticleDOI

The use of glucose-C14 for the evaluation of the pathways of glucose metabolism.

TL;DR: A theoretical consideration of the methods of evaluating the participation of the pentose cycle and the Embden-Meyerhof pathway in the metabolism of glucose and the effect of recycling of hexosemonophosphate in thepentose cycle is presented.
Journal ArticleDOI

Acetate biosynthesis by acetogenic bacteria. Evidence that carbon monoxide dehydrogenase is the condensing enzyme that catalyzes the final steps of the synthesis.

TL;DR: These studies support the view that CO dehydrogenase is the condensing enzyme that forms acetyl-CoA from its component parts, and a scheme is presented to account for the role of CO dehydrogensase in the exchange reaction and in the synthesis of acetate.
