TL;DR: In this paper, the added mass matrix is computed in a given geometrical and flow specifications for a specific propeller and its results are studied versus experimental results, which it's current numerical data.
Abstract: Added mass is an important and effective dynamic coefficient in accelerating, non uniform motion as a result of fluid accelerating around a body. It plays an important role, especially in vessel roll motion, control parameters as well as in analyzing the local and global vibration of a vessel and its parts like propellers and rudders. In this article, calculating the Added Mass Coefficient has been examined for a sphere, ellipsoid, marine propeller and hydrofoil; using numerical Boundary Element Method. Since an Ellipsoid and a sphere have simple geometric shapes and the Analytical values of their added mass coefficients are available, so that the results of added mass matrix are obtained and evaluated, using the boundary element method. Then the added mass matrix is computed in a given geometrical and flow specifications for a specific propeller and its results are studied versus experimental results, which it’s current numerical data. In comparison with other numerical methods has a good conformity with experimental results. The most important advantage of the method in determining the added mass matrix coefficients for the surface and underwater vessels and the marine propellers is extracting all the added mass coefficients with very good Accuracy, while in other numerical methods it is impossible to extract all the coefficients with the Desired Accuracy.

TL;DR: In this article, the finite volume method (FVM) is implemented to predict hydrodynamic forces acting on a pumpjet propulsion system using ANSYS-CFX solver.
Abstract: Nowadays surface and underwater vessels with modern propulsion systems and proper hydro-acoustic performance have been emerged. Pumpjet is one of these new systems, mainly employed for the underwater applications. The advantage of pumpjet over other propulsion systems can be defined by two factors including high efficiency and very low acoustic effects. In this study, the finite volume method (FVM) is implemented to predict hydrodynamic forces acting on a pumpjet propulsion system using ANSYS-CFX solver. The RANS equations with SST k-ω turbulent model are solved in a periodic computational domain around the pumpjet. First, the presented numerical model is applied to a ducted propeller and the numerical results obtained for thrust and torque coefficients and hydrodynamic efficiency are presented and compared with available experimental results. Then, this model is used for analysis of flow around the pumpjet. The numerical results of thrust, torque and hydrodynamic efficiency for pumpjet are presented in different advance coefficients. Velocity and pressure distributions on pumpjet blades are also shown and discussed.

TL;DR: In this article, a three-dimensional computational stability analysis of flow over a backward-facing step with an expansion ratio (outlet to inlet height) of 2 at Reynolds numbers between 450 and 1050 is presented.
Abstract: Results are reported from a three-dimensional computational stability analysis of flow over a backward-facing step with an expansion ratio (outlet to inlet height) of 2 at Reynolds numbers between 450 and 1050. The analysis shows that the first absolute linear instability of the steady two-dimensional flow is a steady three-dimensional bifurcation at a critical Reynolds number of 748. The critical eigenmode is localized to the primary separation bubble and has a flat roll structure with a spanwise wavelength of 6.9 step heights. The system is further shown to be absolutely stable to two-dimensional perturbations up to a Reynolds number of 1500. Stability spectra and visualizations of the global modes of the system are presented for representative Reynolds numbers.
