TL;DR: With the proposed model, manufacturers can have a better understanding of the capabilities that a green supplier must possess and can evaluate and select the most suitable green supplier for cooperation.
Abstract: With growing worldwide awareness of environmental protection, green production has become an important issue for almost every manufacturer and will determine the sustainability of a manufacturer in the long term. A performance evaluation system for green suppliers thus is necessary to determine the suitability of suppliers to cooperate with the firm. While the works on the evaluation and/or selection of suppliers are abundant, those that concern environmental issues are rather limited. Therefore, in this study, a model for evaluating green suppliers is proposed. The Delphi method is applied first to differentiate the criteria for evaluating traditional suppliers and green suppliers. A hierarchy is constructed next to help evaluate the importance of the selected criteria and the performance of green suppliers. Since experts may not identify the importance of factors clearly, the results of questionnaires may be biased. To consider the vagueness of experts' opinions, the fuzzy extended analytic hierarchy process is exploited. With the proposed model, manufacturers can have a better understanding of the capabilities that a green supplier must possess and can evaluate and select the most suitable green supplier for cooperation.

TL;DR: A fuzzy multiple goal programming model is developed to help downstream companies to select thin film transistor liquid crystal display (TFT-LCD) suppliers for cooperation and it can also allocate the purchase among the selected supplier(s).
Abstract: In today's highly competitive environment, a good supply chain relationship is essential for a company to survive and to acquire reasonable profit. While a few large companies may be able to vertically integrate from the design stage to the final distribution of the entire supply chain, most companies can only focus on their specialized functions and to cooperate with upstream or downstream companies. Supplier selection, as a result, is very important for maintaining strategic alliances. The objective of this paper is to develop a fuzzy multiple goal programming (FMGP) model to help downstream companies to select thin film transistor liquid crystal display (TFT-LCD) suppliers for cooperation. Fuzzy analytic hierarchy process (FAHP) is applied first to analyze the importance of multiple factors by incorporating experts' opinion, and these factors include cost, yield and number of suppliers. Multi-choice goal programming is used next to consider the limits of various resources and to formulate the constraints. From the experimental design and examination, we can testify that the proposed model not only can consider multi-choice goals, decision-making behavior and limit of resources, it can also allocate the purchase among the selected supplier(s).

Abstract: This chapter discusses leading problems linked to energy that the world is now confronting and to propose some ideas concerning possible solutions. Oil deserves special attention among all energy sources. Since the beginning of 1981, it has merely been continuing and enhancing the downward movement in consumption and prices caused by excessive rises, especially for light crudes such as those from Africa, and the slowing down of worldwide economic growth. Densely-populated oil-producing countries need to produce to live, to pay for their food and their equipment. If the economic growth of the industrialized countries were to be 4%, even if investment in the rational use of energy were pushed to the limit and the development of nonpetroleum energy sources were also pursued actively, it would be extremely difficult to prevent a sharp rise in prices. It is evident that it is absolutely necessary to pursue actively the development of coal, natural gas, and nuclear power if a physical shortage of energy is not to block economic growth.

TL;DR: Developing and delivering high quality products and services means that you are doing things correctly from the beginning, and as a consequence you are reducing the need for additional services, from verification to warranty.
Abstract: THE NEED FOR QUALITY The first thing that we need to consider, in any organization, is that quality is the most important thing. The quality of your work defines you.  Whoever you are,  Whatever you do,  I can find the same products and services cheaper somewhere else. But your quality is your signature. Developing and delivering high quality products and services means that you are doing things correctly from the beginning. As a consequence, you are reducing the need for additional services, from verification to warranty.

TL;DR: In this article, a model is constructed to link the relationship between greening the supply chain, green innovation, environmental performance and competitive advantage in order to encourage companies to implement green supply chain and green innovation.
Abstract: Recently, many companies have recognized the concepts of green supply chain management or supply chain environmental management. However, relatively little research attention has been devoted to the consideration of relations between greening the supply chain, green innovation, environmental performance and competitive advantage. Hence, this paper aims to bridge this gap by providing empirical evidence to encourage companies to implement green supply chain and green innovation in order to improve their environmental performance, and to enhance their competitive advantage in the global market. A model is constructed to link the aforementioned constructs. Data were collected through a questionnaire-based survey across 124 companies from eight industry sectors in Taiwan. The data are analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling and the results from the final measurement model are used to evaluate the structural model that verifies the significance of the proposed relationships. A prominent result of this study is that greening the supplier through green innovation contributes significant benefits to the environmental performance and competitive advantage of the firm.
