Characterization of the oxides formed at 1000 °C on the AISI 304 stainless steel by X-ray diffraction and infrared spectroscopy
TL;DR: In this article, the authors show the contribution of infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) to the identification of the oxides formed on the AISI 304 stainless steel during isothermal oxidation at 1000°C, in air.
Journal ArticleDOI
Characterization of the oxides formed at 1000 °C on the AISI 316L stainless steel—Role of molybdenum
TL;DR: In this paper, in situ X-ray diffraction (XRD) was used to identify the oxides formed on the AISI 316L stainless steel (SS) during isothermal oxidation at 1000°C, in air.
Journal ArticleDOI
Oxidation of alumina formers at 1173 K: effect of yttrium ion implantation and yttrium alloying addition
TL;DR: In this paper, the oxidation behavior of three alumina forming FeCrAl alloys has been investigated during isothermal exposures in air at 1173 K. In situ X-ray diffraction shows that yttrium suppresses the formation of transition alumina and promotes the growth of α-Al 2 O 3, thereby leading to the earlier formation of a protective oxide scale.
Journal ArticleDOI
The effect of gas composition on the isothermal oxidation behaviour of PM chromium
TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of small amounts of water vapour on the isothermal high-temperature oxidation behavior of powder-metallurgical (PM) chromium in Ar/20% O 2 and N 2 /20% 18 O 2 has been studied.
Journal ArticleDOI
The influence of implanted yttrium on the cyclic oxidation behaviour of 304 stainless steel
TL;DR: In this article, thermal cycling was carried out in order to study the influence of implanted yttrium on the oxide scale adherence on 304 steel specimens oxidised in air at 1273 K.
