TL;DR: In this paper, a dipole-dipole Forster mechanism of excitation energy transfer between donor-donor and rhodamine 6G molecules in water with varying pH has been studied by using steady state measurements.
Abstract: Excitation energy transfer between acriflavine (donor) to rhodamine 6G (acceptor) molecules in water with varying pH has been studied by using steady state measurements. From absorption and fluorescence spectra of donor and acceptor, overlap integrals for donor fluorescence and donor absorption ( Ω DD ) as well as donor fluorescence and acceptor absorption ( Ω DA ) have been calculated. The corresponding critical transfer distances for dipole–dipole Forster mechanism of excitation energy transfer between donor–donor ( R 0D ) and donor–acceptor ( R 0A ), reduced concentration and efficiency of energy transfer have also been calculated. It has been found that the Ω DA change with pH whereas Ω DD remain unchanged, resulting in change in energy transfer from donor to acceptor with pH, but no change in energy migration. The efficiency of excitation energy transfer is maximum for a highly basic solution and it decreases with a decrease in pH. The energy transfer efficiency, reduced concentration, and overlap integrals show a linear dependence on pH. It has been proposed that the system may be used as a wide range (1.4 to 12) pH sensor with an accuracy of 0.01.

TL;DR: The naked eye sensitive “ On–Off–On ” switching behavior of 7 has been utilized to mimic the function of a sequential logic circuit at molecular level and shows strong affinity for Hg 2+ and has been utilization to develop a stable ensemble, 7·Hg 2 + .
Abstract: A simple triazole bridged molecular probe containing anthracene and quinoline moieties has been designed and synthesized as a fluorescent molecular probe ( 7 ). The photophysical behavior of the probe 7 has been examined and tested for the recognition of ions in partial aqueous medium and HeLa cell. The probe 7 has shown strong affinity for Hg 2+ and has been utilized to develop a stable ensemble, 7·Hg 2 + . The ensemble, 7·Hg 2+ upon interaction with different class of anions showed high affinity for cyanide with ∼16 fold fluorescence enhancement and high limit of detection, 1.25 μM. The live cell imaging studies showed that ensemble 7·Hg 2+ is capable to detect CN − intracellularly. The analytical applicability of the probe for Hg 2+ and CN − has been tested on the test paper strips. Additionally, the naked eye sensitive “ On–Off–On ” switching behavior of 7 has been utilized to mimic the function of a sequential logic circuit at molecular level. The 1 H NMR titration, ESI-MS spectroscopy and DFT calculation confirms the binding behavior between 7 and Hg 2+ .

Abstract: This critical review will present the role of nanoparticles (NPs) in the directions that are vital to the new field of nanomedicine, including imaging and drug delivery. We reflect on the physical properties that make NPs advantageous for in vivo efficacy, and review recent advances in major NP based biomedical applications. Critical questions of transport, uptake, and clearance will be discussed and illustrated through the success and opportunities of NP imaging and therapy on a photodynamic therapy (PDT) based NP system that has been developed in our lab over the past decade (540 references).
