TL;DR: In this paper, a road-guidance indicating device has a light projection unit including light control means for controlling a lamp and light emitted from the lamp, which can project a light whose peak luminosity is 30000 cd or more.
Abstract: A road indication device is provided. The road-guidance indicating device has a light projection unit including light control means for controlling a lamp and light emitted from the lamp. The light projection unit project a light whose peak luminosity is 30000 cd or more, i.e., the light has a luminosity equal to or larger than a peak luminosity of a headlight of a car running on the road. Since a light pillar of light having a high light output and a thick light pillar is projected from the light projection unit, the visuality of the light pillar is improved even in the bad weather and the boundary between the driveway and the shoulder on the road can be affirmatively guided and indicated.

TL;DR: In this paper, a traffic information system provides information to traffic moving along a road and may include a plurality of traffic information devices mountable to the road, each having an integral power producing source, at least a first set of illumination sources, and a wireless communications subsystem.
Abstract: A traffic informational system provides information to traffic moving along a road and may include a plurality of traffic information devices mountable to the road, each having an integral power producing source, at least a first set of illumination sources, and a wireless communications subsystem. The traffic informational system may further include at least a first external control device comprising at least one antenna and a transmitter communication wirelessly with the traffic information devices and/or with one another. The traffic information device may communicate with one another, and may include sensor for sensing ambient conditions. The system employs various approaches to reducing power consumption and improving communications, and is suitable for a wide range of applications, including use in remote environments.

TL;DR: In this article, a light fixture is described that measures the ambient light intensity and determines whether to provide illumination, and the light fixture may further determine a traffic status proximate the fixture and adjust the illumination accordingly.
Abstract: A light fixture is described that measures the ambient light intensity and determines whether to provide illumination. The light fixture may further determine a traffic status proximate the fixture and adjust the illumination accordingly. A network of light fixtures is also provided, the light fixtures communicating data to each other and determining illumination states therefrom.

TL;DR: In this paper, a system for electrical power generation by utilizing wind draft force from vehicle traveling on roadways provides two types of wind turbine apparatuses, one type is for road side which sits along the side of a roadway; another type is installed along at traffic divider line at middle of the roadway.
Abstract: A system for electrical power generation by utilizing wind draft force from vehicle traveling on roadways provide two types of wind turbine apparatuses, one type is for road side which sits along the side of a roadway; another type is for road center which is installed along at traffic divider line at middle of a roadway. When vehicle moves at high speed, lots energy is used to push away air in its way. By setting wind turbines on road side and middle of road, some portions of the wasted energy can be re-captured.

TL;DR: In this article, a traffic intersection lane and signal system for improving intersection capacity and safety is presented. But the system does not support left-handed or right-handed driving conventions.
Abstract: One embodiment of a traffic intersection lane and signal system for improving intersection capacity and safety. Through traffic is stopped by signal means ( 22 ) a distance away from the intersection. Turning traffic on turn lanes ( 10 ) and ( 14 ) have an option to proceed and queue on lane segments ( 12 ) and ( 16 ) respectively, then complete the turning maneuvers during phase φ7 and phase φ1 respectively. The through traffic released from signal means ( 22 ) arrives at the intersection at the time opposing left turn phase φ5 expires and through phase φ6 starts, and passes through the intersection without significant delay. A set of detectors ( 50 ) and signal means ( 52 ) located before the presignal help drivers to make stop decisions, and another set of detectors ( 54 ) and signal means ( 56 ) located before the intersection provide last second warning to drivers who ran the red light at the presignal. This system accommodates left-handed or right-handed driving conventions.
