Journal ArticleDOI
The International Registry of Acute Aortic Dissection (IRAD): new insights into an old disease.
Peter Hagan,Christoph A. Nienaber,Eric M. Isselbacher,David Bruckman,Dean Karavite,P. Russman,Arturo Evangelista,Rossella Fattori,Toru Suzuki,Jae K. Oh,Andrew G. Moore,Joseph F. Malouf,Linda Pape,Charlene Gaca,Udo Sechtem,Suzanne Lenferink,Hans J. Deutsch,Holger Diedrichs,Jose Marcos y Robles,Alfredo Llovet,Dan Gilon,Sugata Das,William F. Armstrong,G. Michael Deeb,Kim A. Eagle +24 more
TL;DR: The data support the need for continued improvement in prevention, diagnosis, and management of acute aortic dissection and suggest a high clinical index of suspicion is necessary.
Journal ArticleDOI
Increased regulatory activity of the calcineurin/NFAT pathway in human heart failure
TL;DR: The Ca2+‐calmodulin activated phosphatase calcineurin and its downstream transcriptional effector NFAT have been implicated as transducers of the hypertrophic response.
Journal ArticleDOI
Prognostic impact of NT-proBNP and renal function in comparison to contemporary multi-marker risk scores in heart failure patients.
Roman Pfister,Holger Diedrichs,Anne Schiedermair,Stephan Rosenkranz,Martin Hellmich,Erland Erdmann,Christian A. Schneider +6 more
TL;DR: Multi‐marker risk scores accurately predict prognosis in heart failure patients but calculation is complex, and further research is needed to understand why this is so.
Journal ArticleDOI
Mechanisms of Ca2+-dependent calcineurin activation in mechanical stretch-induced hypertrophy.
Carsten Zobel,Obaida R. Rana,Erol Saygili,Birgit Bölck,Esra Saygili,Holger Diedrichs,Hannes Reuter,Konrad Frank,Jochen Müller-Ehmsen,Gabriele Pfitzer,Robert H. G. Schwinger +10 more
TL;DR: It is suggested that of the proposed mechanisms for the calcium-induced activation of calcineurin, all but stretch-activated channels are possible targets for the inhibition of hypertrophy.
Journal ArticleDOI
NT-pro-BNP for differential diagnosis in patients with syncope
TL;DR: NT-pro-BNP assessment was helpful in differentiating cardiac from non-cardiac syncope and patients requiring interventional cardiological therapy with a sensitivity and specificity of 90% and 93.8%, respectively.
