The impacts of climate change on water resources and agriculture in China
Shilong Piao,Philippe Ciais,Yao Huang,Zehao Shen,Shushi Peng,Junsheng Li,Liping Zhou,Hongyan Liu,Yuecun Ma,Yihui Ding,Pierre Friedlingstein,Pierre Friedlingstein,Chunzhen Liu,Kun Tan,Yongqiang Yu,Tianyi Zhang,Jingyun Fang +16 more
TL;DR: It is found that notwithstanding the clear warming that has occurred in China in recent decades, current understanding does not allow a clear assessment of the impact of anthropogenic climate change on China’s water resources and agriculture and therefore China's ability to feed its people.
Journal ArticleDOI
Characteristics of concentrations and chemical compositions for PM 2.5 in the region of Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei, China
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors studied the temporal and spatial variations of PM2.5 and its chemical compositions in the region of Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei (BTH), and also one site at Shangdianzi (SDZ) regional background station over four seasons from 2009 to 2010.
Journal ArticleDOI
NO x emissions in China: historical trends and future perspectives
Bin Zhao,Shuxiao Wang,Hongyan Liu,J. Y. Xu,K. Fu,Zbigniew Klimont,Jian Hao,K. B. He,Janusz Cofala,Markus Amann +9 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors estimated the historical NOx emissions in China for the period 1995-2010, and calculated future NOx emission every five years until 2030 under six emission scenarios.
Journal ArticleDOI
Rapid warming accelerates tree growth decline in semi-arid forests of Inner Asia
Hongyan Liu,A. Park Williams,Craig D. Allen,Dali Guo,Xiuchen Wu,Oleg A. Anenkhonov,Eryuan Liang,D. V. Sandanov,Yi Yin,Zhaohuan Qi,Natalya K. Badmaeva +10 more
TL;DR: It is shown that pervasive tree growth declines since 1994 in Inner Asia have been confined to semi-arid forests, where growing season water stress has been rising due to warming-induced increases in atmospheric moisture demand.
Journal ArticleDOI
Differentiating drought legacy effects on vegetation growth over the temperate Northern Hemisphere
Xiuchen Wu,Hongyan Liu,Xiao-Yan Li,Philippe Ciais,Flurin Babst,Weichao Guo,Cicheng Zhang,Vincenzo Magliulo,Marian Pavelka,Shaomin Liu,Yongmei Huang,Pei Wang,Chunming Shi,Yu-Jun Ma +13 more
TL;DR: It is shown that drought legacy effects on vegetation growth differ markedly between forests, shrubs and grass across diverse bioclimatic conditions over the temperate Northern Hemisphere.
