A Survey on Mobile Data Offloading Technologies

TL;DR: This paper discusses the recent advances in the techniques of mobile data offloading, and classifies the existing mobile data Offloading technologies into four categories, i.e., data offloaded through small cell networks, data off loading through WiFi networks,Data offloading through opportunistic mobile networks, and data offload through heterogeneous networks.
Journal ArticleDOI

V2V Data Offloading for Cellular Network Based on the Software Defined Network (SDN) Inside Mobile Edge Computing (MEC) Architecture

TL;DR: The performance analysis for the proposed offloading control scheme based on the SDNi-MEC server architecture shows that it has better throughput in both the cellular networking link and the V2V paths when the vehicle’s density is in the middle.
Journal ArticleDOI

Predicting Temporal Social Contact Patterns for Data Forwarding in Opportunistic Mobile Networks

TL;DR: An efficient temporal closeness and centrality-based data forwarding strategy named TCCB for OMNs is proposed, to capture and utilize the temporal correlations to infer the future temporal social contact patterns in the remaining valid time of the data.
Journal ArticleDOI

Deep Reinforcement Learning for Energy-Efficient Computation Offloading in Mobile Edge Computing

TL;DR: The objective is to minimize the energy consumption of the entire MEC system, by considering the delay constraint as well as the uncertain resource requirements of heterogeneous computation tasks, using a mixed-integer nonlinear programming (MINLP) problem and a value iteration-based reinforcement learning (RL) method.
Journal ArticleDOI

ConSub: Incentive-Based Content Subscribing in Selfish Opportunistic Mobile Networks

TL;DR: This paper proposes an incentive-based pub/sub scheme, called ConSub, for OppNets, where Tit-For-Tat (TFT) mechanism is employed to deal with selfish behavior and results show that ConSub is superior to existing schemes in terms of delivered packets and transmission hops with reasonable transmission cost.
