TL;DR: In this paper, a system and method for automatic enforcement of firmware revision in an information handling system are disclosed, which includes checking, verifying, and flagging a revision status of the firmware for each of the hardware devices attached to the interconnection.
Abstract: A system and method for automatic enforcement of firmware revision in an information handling system are disclosed. The method includes scanning an interconnection for hardware devices attached to the interconnection in an information handling system and determining an interconnection compatibility of each hardware device attached to the interconnection based on checking, verifying, and flagging a revision status of the firmware for each of the hardware devices attached to the interconnection. The method also includes displaying a warning to a user about possible compatibility issues, based on determining the interconnection compatibility of each of the hardware devices attached to the interconnection and determining whether a supported revision of firmware for each of the hardware devices attached to the interconnection is locally stored as a single uniform release, based on determining the interconnection compatibility of each of the hardware devices attached to the interconnection. The method also includes prompting the user whether to proceed with a firmware upgrade for each of the hardware devices attached to the interconnection using the locally stored supported revision of the firmware for each of the hardware devices attached to the interconnection in the single uniform release, based on determining the interconnection compatibility of each of the hardware devices attached to the interconnection and upgrading automatically the firmware for each of the hardware devices attached to the interconnection based on prompting the user.

TL;DR: In this paper, a system and method of SCSI and SAS hardware validation is presented, which includes determining compatibility of each hardware device place on the interconnection based on a supported device information matrix and a location of the hardware device in the information handling system.
Abstract: A system and method of SCSI and SAS hardware validation is disclosed. In one aspect, the present disclosure teaches a method of hardware validation in an information handling system including scanning an interconnection for hardware devices attached to the interconnection in an information handling system. The method further including determining compatibility of each hardware device place on the interconnection based on a supported device information matrix and a location of the hardware device in the information handling system. The method further including displaying a validation notification to a user for possible compatibility issues based on the determination.

TL;DR: In this article, a system update can be implemented between mobile phones through a wireless network without depending on an update server or downloading an update file from the update server, and facilitating exchange of systems between mobile phone users.
Abstract: A method, a system, and a terminal for performing a system update between mobile communication terminals. The method includes: determining, by a target mobile terminal, whether hardware is compatible with a source mobile terminal; if the hardware is compatible between both terminals, obtaining, by the target mobile terminal through a wireless network, a system backup file transferred by the source mobile terminal; and performing, by the target mobile terminal, a system update according to the system backup file. A system update can be implemented between mobile phones through a wireless network without depending on an update server or downloading an update file from the update server, thereby reducing the burden of the update server, and facilitating exchange of systems between mobile phone users.

31 Jul 2012TL;DR: In this paper, a method of power management for devices in a data storage fabric is described, which includes a PHY having a first power condition and a second power condition coupled to a power condition independent device on the data storage fabrics.
Abstract: A method of power management for devices in a data storage fabric is disclosed. The data storage fabric includes a PHY having a first power condition and a second power condition coupled to a power condition independent device on the data storage fabric. The power condition independent device detects a change in the power configuration of the PHY from the first power condition to the second power condition. The power condition independent device then changes its power state to a comparable power state preselected to correspond with the second power condition.

31 Dec 2003TL;DR: In one embodiment, an apparatus may include a plurality of ports capable of being coupled to multiple devices via an associated plurality of communication links, the links being compliant with Serial Attached Small Computer Systems Interface (SAS) protocol.
Abstract: In one embodiment, an apparatus may include a plurality of ports capable of being coupled to a plurality of devices via an associated plurality of communication links, the links being compliant with Serial Attached Small Computer Systems Interface (SAS) protocol. The apparatus may further include circuitry to provide selectable communication control between at least a first device and at least a second device of the plurality of devices. Of course, many alternatives, variations, and modifications are possible without departing from this embodiment.
