Journal ArticleDOI

Autophagic death of neural stem cells mediates chronic stress-induced decline of adult hippocampal neurogenesis and cognitive deficits.

TL;DR: It is shown that chronic restraint stress suppresses adult hippocampal neurogenesis in mice by inducing autophagic cell death (ACD) of hippocampal neural stem cells (NSCs) through SGK3 (serum/glucocorticoid regulated kinase 3) without signs of apoptosis.
Journal ArticleDOI

GSK3B induces autophagy by phosphorylating ULK1

TL;DR: Following insulin withdrawal, GSK3B directly interacted with and activated ULK1 via phosphorylation of S405 and S415 within the GABARAP-interacting region, revealing the importance of G SK3B-mediated phosphorylated for ULK 1 regulation and autophagy induction and potentially for tumorigenesis.
