Real Measurement Study for Rain Rate and Rain Attenuation Conducted Over 26 GHz Microwave 5G Link System in Malaysia

TL;DR: The statistics for the worst month in Malaysia is lower than what was predicted by the ITU model, and the average percentage of error calculated between the measurements and predicted results for the rain rate and rain attenuation were 143% and 159%, respectively.
Journal ArticleDOI

Key Challenges, Drivers and Solutions for Mobility Management in 5G Networks: A Survey

TL;DR: The work examines key factors that will significantly contribute to the increase of mobility issues and their determinants and the innovative, advanced, efficient, and smart handover techniques that have been introduced in 5G networks are discussed.
Journal ArticleDOI

A Comprehensive Survey on Mobility Management in 5G Heterogeneous Networks: Architectures, Challenges and Solutions

TL;DR: This paper provides a comprehensive study on the mobility management in 5G HetNet in terms of radio resource control, the initial access and registration procedure of the user equipment to the network, the paging procedure that provides the location of the UE within thenetwork, connected mode mobility management schemes, beam level mobility and beam management.
Journal ArticleDOI

Auto Tuning Self-Optimization Algorithm for Mobility Management in LTE-A and 5G HetNets

TL;DR: An auto-tuning optimization (ATO) algorithm that utilizes user speed and received signal reference power to adapt HO margin and time to trigger to reduce the number of frequent HOs and HO failure ratio in heterogeneous networks (HetNets).
Journal ArticleDOI

Revolution or Evolution? Technical Requirements and Considerations towards 6G Mobile Communications

TL;DR: 6G mobile technology is reviewed, including its vision, requirements, enabling technologies, and challenges, and a total of 11 communication technologies, including terahertz communication, visible light communication, multiple access, coding, cell-free massive multiple-input multiple-output (CF-mMIMO) zero-energy interface, intelligent reflecting surface (IRS), and infusion of AI/machine learning in wireless transmission techniques, are presented.
