Abstract: The model of generalized thermoelasticity proposed by dual phase lag (DPL), is applied to study the thermoelastic interactions in an infinite fiber-reinforced anisotropic medium with a circular hole. A decaying with time thermal field on the boundary of the hole, which is stress free, causes the thermoelastic interactions. The solutions for displacement, temperature, and stresses are obtained with the help of the finite element procedure. The effects of the reinforcement on temperature, stress, and displacement are studied. The exact solution in the case of isotropic medium is discussed explicitly. The accuracy of the finite element method validated by comparing between the finite element and exact solutions for absence the reinforcement.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors considered the problem of a two-dimensional thermoelastic half-space in the context of generalized thermo-elastic theory with one relaxation time.
Abstract: In this article, we consider the problem of a two-dimensional thermoelastic half-space in the context of generalized thermoelastic theory with one relaxation time. The surface of the half-space is taken to be traction free and thermally insulated. The solution of the considered physical quantity can be broken down in terms of normal modes. The nonhomogeneous basic equations have been written in the form of a vector-matrix differential equation, which is then solved by an eigenvalue approach. The exact analytical solution is adopted for the temperature, the components of displacement and stresses. The results obtained are presented graphically for the effect of laser pulse to display the phenomena physical meaning. The graphical results indicate that the thermal relaxation time has a great effect on the temperature, the components of displacement and the components of stress.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors studied the two-temperature generalized thermoelasticity theory in an unbounded medium with a spherical cavity and the inner surface of the cavity was taken traction free and subjected to a thermal shock.
Abstract: The thermoelastic interaction in an unbounded medium with a spherical cavity is studied using two-temperature generalized thermoelasticity theory. The medium is assumed to be initially quiescent. The inner surface of the cavity is taken traction free and subjected to a thermal shock. By the Laplace transformation, the basic equations are expressed in the form of a vector-matrix differential equation, which is solved by an eigenvalue approach. Some comparison have been shown in figures to estimate the effect of the two-temperature parameter.

TL;DR: This chapter introduces the finite element method (FEM) as a tool for solution of classical electromagnetic problems and discusses the main points in the application to electromagnetic design, including formulation and implementation.
Abstract: This chapter introduces the finite element method (FEM) as a tool for solution of classical electromagnetic problems. Although we discuss the main points in the application of the finite element method to electromagnetic design, including formulation and implementation, those who seek deeper understanding of the finite element method should consult some of the works listed in the bibliography section.

TL;DR: Comparative analysis with the free-living, model nematode Caenorhabditis elegans revealed that, despite these genes having maintained little conservation of local synteny during ∼350 million years of evolution, they largely remain in linkage on chromosomal units.
Abstract: Parasitic nematodes that cause elephantiasis and river blindness threaten hundreds of millions of people in the developing world. We have sequenced the ∼90 megabase (Mb) genome of the human filarial parasite Brugia malayi and predict ∼11,500 protein coding genes in 71 Mb of robustly assembled sequence. Comparative analysis with the free-living, model nematode Caenorhabditis elegans revealed that, despite these genes having maintained little conservation of local synteny during ∼350 million years of evolution, they largely remain in linkage on chromosomal units. More than 100 conserved operons were identified. Analysis of the predicted proteome provides evidence for adaptations of B. malayi to niches in its human and vector hosts and insights into the molecular basis of a mutualistic relationship with its Wolbachia endosymbiont. These findings offer a foundation for rational drug design.
