The main objective of the study is to understand how big data analytics capability (BDAC) as an organizational culture can enhance trust and collaborative performance between civil and military organizations engaged in disaster relief operations. The theoretical framework is grounded in organizational information processing theory (OIPT). We have conceptualized an original theoretical model to show, using the competing value model (CVM), how BDAC, under a moderating influence of organizational culture, affects swift trust (ST) and collaborative performance (CP). We used WarpPLS 6.0 to test the proposed research hypotheses using multi-respondent data gathered through an email questionnaire sent to managers working in 373 organizations, including the military forces of different countries, government aid agencies, UN specialized agencies, international non-government organizations (NGOs), service providers, and contractors. The results offer four important implications. First, BDAC has a positive, significant effect on ST and CP. Second, flexible orientation (FO) and controlled orientation (CO) have no significant influence on building ST. Third, FO has a positive and significant moderating effect on the path joining BDAC and CP. Finally, CO has negative and significant moderating effect on the path joining BDAC and CP. The control variables: temporal orientation (TO) and interdependency (I) have significant effects on ST and CP. These results extend OIPT to create a better understanding of the application of information processing capabilities to build swift trust and improve collaborative performance. Furthermore, managers can derive multiple insights from this theoretically-grounded study to understand how BDAC can be exploited to gain insights in contexts of different management styles and cultures. Big data analytics and organizational culture as complements to swift trust and collaborative performance in the humanitarian supply chain

Climate change, the growth in world population, high levels of food waste and food loss, and the risk of new disease or pandemic outbreaks are examples of the many challenges that threaten future food sustainability and the security of the planet and urgently need to be addressed. The fourth industrial revolution, or Industry 4.0, has been gaining momentum since 2015, being a significant driver for sustainable development and a successful catalyst to tackle critical global challenges. This review paper summarizes the most relevant food Industry 4.0 technologies including, among others, digital technologies (e.g., artificial intelligence, big data analytics, Internet of Things, and blockchain) and other technological advances (e.g., smart sensors, robotics, digital twins, and cyber-physical systems). Moreover, insights into the new food trends (such as 3D printed foods) that have emerged as a result of the Industry 4.0 technological revolution will also be discussed in Part II of this work. The Industry 4.0 technologies have significantly modified the food industry and led to substantial consequences for the environment, economics, and human health. Despite the importance of each of the technologies mentioned above, ground-breaking sustainable solutions could only emerge by combining many technologies simultaneously. The Food Industry 4.0 era has been characterized by new challenges, opportunities, and trends that have reshaped current strategies and prospects for food production and consumption patterns, paving the way for the move toward Industry 5.0.

The role of green investment and corporate social responsibility investment on sustainable performance

The COVID-19 pandemic has severely impacted the global social sustainability of the supply chains, pushing them towards a more flexible management approach. However, there is a paucity of literature that focuses on social sustainability issues for emerging economies. In the post-COVID-19 period, firms around the world will face several critical challenges to social sustainability, which will hinder achieving sustainable development goals (SDGs). Against this backdrop, this study identifies the pressing challenges to social sustainability in the post-COVID-19 context by a literature review and opinions from an expert panel, focusing on the footwear supply chain. In this paper, the best–worst method is applied to compute the criticality of social sustainability challenges towards the flexibility of the supply chains. The study findings reveal that among the nine identified critical challenges, “high level of lay off”, “health protocol development”, “complexity in ensuring workplace safety”, “facing trouble in mental health”, and “lack of government enforcement and regulations for social issues” are reported as the top five challenges, respectively. Furthermore, this study suggests several flexible managerial guidelines, which will help practitioners and policymakers to achieve SDGs considering the COVID-19 pandemic.

The impact of the traceability of the information systems on humanitarian logistics performance: Case study of Indonesian relief logistics services

This study aims to determine the effect of managerial initiatives on the adoption of traceability systems on food cold chain performance during the Covid-19 pandemic. Managerial initiatives are allegedly needed to improve the company's performance because it improves the traceability system in the supply chain. In addition, the effect of the traceability system adoption on the Indonesian food cold-chain performance during the Covid-19 pandemic is also discussed in this study. This study uses a quantitative approach and purposive sampling with a questionnaire research instrument obtained 250 statements of Indonesian consumers and retail employees. Partial least squares for structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) were used to analyze latent variables' relationships. This study indicates that the traceability system has a significant effect on the performance of the food cold-chain during the Covid-19 pandemic. In addition, the adoption of electronic data exchange (EDI), radio frequency identification (RFID), and blockchain significantly impacted traceability systems during the Covid-19 pandemic. The managerial application of the initiative showed a positive and significant impact on the performance of the food cold-chain during the Covid-19 pandemic. However, the managerial initiative is not able to moderate the adoption of the traceability system.

The effect of humanitarian logistics service quality to customer loyalty using Kansei engineering: Evidence from Indonesian logistics service providers

ABSTRACT We present a new generalization and metaheuristics for the distributed parallel machine and assembly scheduling problem (DPMASP), namely MDPMASP with eligibility constraints. There is a set of unrelated factories or production lines. Each has a series of non-identical parallel machines with varying processing speeds. Then, it was disposed of as a single assembly machine in a series. Each product is assembled from a set of components (jobs). Each item necessitates multiple unidentical jobs. The objectives are to minimize mean flow time and the number of tardy jobs. We suggest four basic heuristics and three metaheuristics to tackle the problem. The Taguchi approach is used to discuss and calibrate various metaheuristic parameters. Algorithms are compared using the four performance measures. The computational results show that the proposed algorithms can solve moderate-sized problems efficiently and near-optimal solutions in most cases. Moreover, based on the four performance measures, MGA is the best method, followed by MSA, MPSO, SH2, SH4, SH1 and SH3.

Solving multi-objective Modified Distributed Parallel Machine and Assembly Scheduling Problem (MDPMASP) with eligibility constraints using metaheuristics

The Capacitated Vehicle Routing Problem (CVRP) plays an important role in the logistics transportation sector. Determining the proper route will reduce the company's operational costs. In CVRP, a number of vehicles have a capacity limit that can serve all customers. This research completes a real case study on a bottled drinking water company where the company still uses the subjective method of the driver to determine the transportation route. Based on the conditions in the company, the selection of the best route will consider vehicle capacity and demand to determine the shortest route. The execution of this case study uses the Football Game Algorithm (FGA) which was first initiated by Fadakar Ebrahimi which proved promising and had the strongest performance in all cases. FGA is expected to be able to determine the shortest distribution route from the existing cases to reduce the distribution costs incurred. This study takes data from 4 days of delivery that served 78 customers. The average daily transportation cost savings result is 42%. This amount indicates that the FGA algorithm is effective for completing a real case study in CVRP.

Solving Capacitated Vehicle Routing Problem Using Football Game Algorithm

The procurement of raw materials becomes one of the strategic activities in the supply chain. Suitable suppliers provide a positive impact on the company, such as minimizing costs and maximizing quality products. This study proposes Fuzzy-AHP and PROMETHEE for supplier selection in the garment industry by employing the fuzzy-AHP and PROMETHEE to consider the interrelationships between criteria. Fuzzy AHP is applied to assess and measure the importance of criteria based on their relationship. PROMETHEE is applied to select the best supplier by ranking each alternative. In this study, criteria cost, quality, service, delivery, environment, and company profile were applied to supplier selection, and 16 sub-criteria were applied in this research. A case study was conducted in a garment company. Based on fuzzy-AHP, research findings indicate that product price produces the highest weight, followed by Material Conformity with specifications and the ability to provide consistent quality. The ranking of the best suppliers based on PROMETHEE indicates that supplier A2 has the priority, followed by supplier A1 and A3.
