TL;DR: Increased complement activation is associated with advanced disease severity of COVID-19, and patients with SARS-CoV-2 infection are more likely to die when the disease is accompanied by overactivation and consumption of C3.
Journal ArticleDOI
Impairment of blood-brain barrier integrity during carotid surgery as assessed by serum S-100B protein concentrations.
TL;DR: Monitoring the cerebral marker S-100B protein concentrations during and after CEA in the serum presumed to indicate the transient opening of the BBB elicited by carotid cross-clamping in patients with no neurological deficits.
Journal ArticleDOI
[Successful administration of convalescent plasma in critically ill COVID-19 patients in Hungary: the first two cases]

TL;DR: This is the first report of the successful use of convalescent plasma in the treatment of critically ill patients with COVID-19 infection in Hungary, and experience indicates that convalescence plasma therapy is well tolerated and could potentially improve clinical outcomes.

Clinicopathology of a case with retinopathy of pancreatitis.
Gábor Holló,Ilona Bobek +1 more
TL;DR: Bilateral retinopathy of pancreatitis developed in a 36‐year‐old male patient during recurrent acute necrotizing pancreatitis, suggesting that in acute pancreatitis vascular embolisation in the retina is not necessary to the development of cotton‐wool patches.
