Journal ArticleDOI
Tunable sieving of ions using graphene oxide membranes
Jijo Abraham,K. S. Vasu,Christopher D. Williams,Kalon Gopinadhan,Yang Su,C. T. Cherian,James Dix,Eric Prestat,Sarah J. Haigh,Irina V. Grigorieva,Paola Carbone,Andre K. Geim,Rahul R. Nair +12 more
TL;DR: A simple scalable method is demonstrated to obtain graphene-based membranes with limited swelling, which exhibit 97% rejection for NaCl and decrease exponentially with decreasing sieve size, but water transport is weakly affected.
Journal ArticleDOI
Microfabricated adhesive mimicking gecko foot-hair.
Andre K. Geim,S. V. Dubonos,Irina V. Grigorieva,Kostya S. Novoselov,Andrey A. Zhukov,S. Yu. Shapoval +5 more
TL;DR: A prototype of such 'gecko tape' is reported on, made by microfabrication of dense arrays of flexible plastic pillars, the geometry of which is optimized to ensure their collective adhesion.
Journal ArticleDOI
Fluorographene: A Two‐Dimensional Counterpart of Teflon
Rahul R. Nair,Wencai Ren,Rashid Jalil,Ibtsam Riaz,Vasyl G. Kravets,L. Britnell,Peter Blake,Fredrik Schedin,A. S. Mayorov,Shengjun Yuan,Mikhail I. Katsnelson,Hui-Ming Cheng,Wlodek Strupinski,Lyubov G. Bulusheva,Alexander V. Okotrub,Irina V. Grigorieva,Alexander N. Grigorenko,Kostya S. Novoselov,Andre K. Geim +18 more
TL;DR: F fluorographene is a high-quality insulator that inherits the mechanical strength of graphene, exhibiting a Young's modulus of 100 N m(-1) and sustaining strains of 15%.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cloning of Dirac fermions in graphene superlattices
Leonid Ponomarenko,Roman V. Gorbachev,Geliang Yu,D. C. Elias,Rashid Jalil,Aavishkar A. Patel,Artem Mishchenko,A. S. Mayorov,Colin R. Woods,John Wallbank,Marcin Mucha-Kruczynski,Benjamin A. Piot,Marek Potemski,Irina V. Grigorieva,K. S. Novoselov,Francisco Guinea,Vladimir I. Fal'ko,Andre K. Geim +17 more
TL;DR: Graphene superlattices such as this one provide a way of studying the rich physics expected in incommensurable quantum systems and illustrate the possibility of controllably modifying the electronic spectra of two-dimensional atomic crystals by varying their crystallographic alignment within van der Waals heterostuctures.
Journal ArticleDOI
High electron mobility, quantum Hall effect and anomalous optical response in atomically thin InSe
Denis A. Bandurin,Anastasia V. Tyurnina,Anastasia V. Tyurnina,Geliang Yu,Artem Mishchenko,Viktor Zólyomi,Sergey V. Morozov,Roshan Krishna Kumar,Roman V. Gorbachev,Zakhar R. Kudrynskyi,Sergio Pezzini,Zakhar D. Kovalyuk,Uli Zeitler,Konstantin S. Novoselov,Amalia Patanè,Laurence Eaves,Irina V. Grigorieva,Vladimir I. Fal'ko,Andre K. Geim,Yang Cao +19 more
TL;DR: Encapsulated 2D InSe expands the family of graphene-like semiconductors and, in terms of quality, is competitive with atomically thin dichalcogenides and black phosphorus.
