Journal ArticleDOI
Anticonvulsant effect of cannabidiol in the pentylenetetrazole model: Pharmacological mechanisms, electroencephalographic profile, and brain cytokine levels.
Luciano R. Vilela,Isabel Vieira de Assis Lima,Érica B. Kunsch,Hyorrana Priscila Pereira Pinto,Aline Silva de Miranda,Érica Leandro Marciano Vieira,Antônio Carlos Pinheiro de Oliveira,Márcio Flávio Dutra Moraes,Antônio Lúcio Teixeira,Fabrício A. Moreira +9 more
TL;DR: The robust anticonvulsant effects of CBD may result from multiple pharmacological mechanisms, including facilitation of endocannabinoid signaling and TRPV1 mechanisms, with potential implications for the development of new treatments for certain epileptic syndromes.
Journal ArticleDOI
Role of Prostaglandins in Neuroinflammatory and Neurodegenerative Diseases
Isabel Vieira de Assis Lima,Leandro F.S. Bastos,Leandro F.S. Bastos,Marcelo Limborço-Filho,Bernd L. Fiebich,Antônio Carlos Pinheiro de Oliveira,Antônio Carlos Pinheiro de Oliveira +6 more
TL;DR: The evidences that link prostaglandins, as well as the enzymes that produce them, to some neurological diseases are discussed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Neuroprotective effects of the anticancer drug NVP-BEZ235 (dactolisib) on amyloid-β 1–42 induced neurotoxicity and memory impairment
Paula Maria Quaglio Bellozi,Isabel Vieira de Assis Lima,Juliana G. Doria,Érica Leandro Marciano Vieira,Alline C. Campos,Eduardo Candelario-Jalil,Helton José Reis,Antônio Lúcio Teixeira,Fabiola M. Ribeiro,Antônio Carlos Pinheiro de Oliveira +9 more
TL;DR: In cell cultures, BEZ reduced neuronal death induced by Aβ and increased IL-10 and TNF-α levels in the hippocampus, and did not change the phosphorylation of Akt and p70s6K, suggesting that the involvement of PI3K and mTOR in the effects induced by BEZ remains controversial.
Journal ArticleDOI
N-arachidonoyl-serotonin, a dual FAAH and TRPV1 blocker, inhibits the retrieval of contextual fear memory: Role of the cannabinoid CB1 receptor in the dorsal hippocampus.
Pedro H. Gobira,Isabel Vieira de Assis Lima,Luara A. Batista,Antonio C. de Oliveira,Leonardo B.M. Resstel,Carsten T. Wotjak,Daniele C. Aguiar,Fabrício A. Moreira +7 more
TL;DR: Dual FAAH and TRPV1 blockage inhibits contextual fear memory by facilitating anandamide-induced CB1 receptor activation in the dorsal hippocampus of mice.
Journal ArticleDOI
Knockdown of C-C Chemokine Receptor 5 (CCR5) is Protective Against Cerebral Ischemia and Reperfusion Injury.
Edna Constanza Gómez Victoria,Eliana Cristina de Brito Toscano,Ana Clara de Sousa Cardoso,Daniele Gonçalves da Silva,Aline Silva de Miranda,Lucíola S. Barcelos,Michelle A. Sugimoto,Lirlândia P. Sousa,Isabel Vieira de Assis Lima,Antônio Carlos Pinheiro de Oliveira,Fátima Brant,Fabiana S. Machado,Mauro M. Teixeira,Antônio Lúcio Teixeira,Milene Alvarenga Rachid +14 more
TL;DR: A potential neuroprotection in the absence of CCR5 receptor during global brain ischemia and reperfusion injury is suggested.
