TL;DR: In this paper, the degree of media literacy in primary and secondary school population in Andalusia is analyzed and two surveys are conducted in a varied sample of Andalusian schools.
Abstract: The media consumption by children and young people in our society is a fact. Since 2010 there has been an R&D project that aims to assess media literacy in compulsory education in Andalusia. The content was defined in terms of six dimensions developed to assess the skill levels of citizenship. This article analyzes the degree of media literacy in primary and secondary school population in Andalusia. It is an important challenge for the information society to prepare media literate students. The study reports the comparative results of two surveys conducted in a varied sample of Andalusian schools. Both tools are designed to be implemented online with real-time tracking of the platform, to identify needs and gaps and plan for future strategies at school. The study defines media literacy and analysis of its dimensions and various categories of the quantitative study. This research concludes that the population of primary and secondary media literacy lacks the dimensions analyzed. It is, therefore, necessary to develop a course in media education in the school curriculum.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigate the effect of the use of the Internet on the exit of an alumnado of cinco universidades de Ecuador. And they find that quienes realizan actividades interactivas con pares and profesores or quiene utilizan de forma balanceada las distintas herramientas de Internet tienden a greater exito academico than aquellos that just buscan información.

TL;DR: The results of un estudio sobre los niveles de competencia mediatica in el contexto escolar de Ecuador, entre estudiantes and profesores of las ciudades de Loja and Zamora, were presented in this article.

TL;DR: In this article, a quantitative study with a sample of 678 primary school students was conducted to provide empirical evidence about the level of digital skills of students belonging to the Z generation, and the results showed that the acquisition of digital competences is not inherent to use, but require specific instruction.
Abstract: Media convergence and massive usage of Internet-connected devices, distinguishing features of our current society, cause changes in the way that new generations learn and access knowledge. In addition, emerging new digital skills are necessary for the Z generation to face the challenges of a digital society. This quantitative study, with a sample of 678 Primary School students, aims to provide empirical evidence about the level of digital skills of students belonging to this generation. The results show that the acquisition of digital competences is not inherent to use, but require specific instruction. Otherwise, there is a danger of creating a digital divide, not due to frequency of use or access to connected devices but to lack of instruction on how to use them. The absence of significant variance in the overall level of digital competence among Primary School students of different grades reflects, to some extent, that this level is largely acquired by informal activities with ICTs in an informal context, rather than by developing competences in a school context that affords gradual and progressive skills acquisition. The results show the need to address digital competence in schools, focusing on the systematic development and enhancement of its component areas to move beyond the informal level and reach the academic level, thus facilitating digital natives’ access to future employment.

TL;DR: The ConRed Program as discussed by the authors is based on the theory of normative social behavior and aims to reduce problems such as cyberbullying and addiction to the Internet and refocus the misadjusted perception of information control in the social networks in order to promote their use in a more beneficial way.
Abstract: The incredible force with which ITCs have arrived in society and the consequent risks to children when dealing with the Internet and social networks make it necessary for the domain of virtual environments to be included in the school curriculum. However, the initiatives in this direction are limited and there is a lack of rigorously evaluated programs that might act as a basis for designing educational lines of action. The ConRed Program is based on the theory of normative social behavior and aims to reduce problems such as cyber-bullying and addiction to the Internet and refocus the misadjusted perception of information control in the social networks in order to promote their use in a more beneficial way. The ConRed Program has been evaluated using a quasi-experimental methodology, with an experimental group (N=595) and a quasi-control group (N=298) consisting of 893 students (45.9% girls) with an average age of 13.80 years (SD=1.47). The reduction of problems in the experimental group and the lack of change in the control group is evidence of the program’s validity, and show that by working and collaborating with the whole educational community it is possible to improve the quality of the virtual and, therefore, the real life of adolescents. TL;DR: In this paper, a study of 593 Spanish students, mostly women, with an average age of 22.76 years (Sd = 6.541), who live in large cities (86.1%), and study at the University (61.7%), was carried out with an ad hoc questionnaire that is answered on a Likert-type scale of five categories.
Abstract: The objective of this work is to know how the students are living the current situation of distance teaching "imposed" by Covid-19. The participants are 593 Spanish students, mostly women (76.4%), with an average age of 22.76 years (Sd = 6.541), who live in large cities (86.1%) and study at the University (61.7%). The data collection was carried out with an ad hoc questionnaire that is answered on a Likert-type scale of five categories. Reliability is high (Cronbach's ? = 0.890). The results indicate that majority of the students have a mobile phone, laptop or tablet, with internet access; but 14.8% recognize that they do not have the necessary resources to face the current situation. 40.6% have moved to live the confinement in another place (family home, second residence, etc.) and 24.3% are in a town of less than 100,000 habitants, data that is associated with the fact that they have fewer resources now. Older students consider that they possess insufficient technological skills, difficulties in implementing the indications of educational school effectively and difficulty in catching up with the constant changes in ICT, significant data if compared to the younger ones.
