Lateral and vertical alteration-mineralization zoning in porphyry ore deposits
J. David Lowell,John M. Guilbert +1 more
TL;DR: Copper and molybdenum deposits, potassic, phyllic, argillic and propylitic alteration, emphasis on San Manuel-Kalamazoo deposit of Arizona, tabulated data on characteristics of North and South American deposits as discussed by the authors.
Journal ArticleDOI
Regional Characteristics of Porphyry Copper Deposits of the Southwest
TL;DR: The largest and best studied concentration of porphyry-type deposits is the Southwest porphyries in Arizona, southwestern New Mexico, and northern Sonora (Figure 1). Most of these deposits are in the 58 to 72 million-year-old range.
Journal ArticleDOI
Geology of the Kalamazoo orebody, San Manuel District, Arizona
TL;DR: The discovery of the San Manuel orebody was based on recognition of: (1) a zonal pattern in which ore is marginal to a low-grade core with potassic alterations; (2) evidence for post-mineralization tilting of 45 degrees or more; and (3) large scale mullion structure on the tilted San Manuel fault that indicated the direction of offset.
Journal ArticleDOI
Geology and origin of mineralized breccia pipes in Copper Basin, Arizona
W. P. Johnston,J. David Lowell +1 more
TL;DR: In the Copper Basin district, Yavapai County, Arizona as discussed by the authors, the bulk of ore mineralization appears to have been controlled by pipe structures, which are roughly cylindrical, near vertical structures ranging in diameter from 50 to 600 feet.
