Direct Observation of an Amorphous Spin-Polarization Distribution

TL;DR: In this paper, the existence of an amorphous spin-polarization distribution in a sputtered rare-earth-iron alloy of composition 33 at% Tb, 67 at% Fe was shown from neutron diffraction measurements.
Journal ArticleDOI

Softening of the transverse-optic mode in PbTe

TL;DR: Inelastic neutron scattering measurements show that the transverse optic mode energy in PbTe follows a Curie law temperature dependence with a negative extrapolated T c as mentioned in this paper, where T c is the number of neutrons that can be produced by each node.
Proceedings ArticleDOI

Magnetism in Amorphous Terbium‐Iron

TL;DR: The magnetic spin density function contains a very broad major peak, dominated by the Tb•Tb pair distribution function, with a maximum near 3.6 A as discussed by the authors, which can be explained by considering only near neighbor correlations between terbium and iron atoms in a random close-packed arrangement.
Book ChapterDOI

Amorphous Spin Polarization in a Tb-Fe Compound

TL;DR: In this article, a sample of 33.3 at.% Tb, 66.7 at.%, and 66.3 Tb Tb was prepared by sputtering, and was shown to exhibit an amorphous atomic arrangement and spin polarization distribution.
Journal ArticleDOI

Small-angle neutron scattering from rare-earth iron alloys

TL;DR: In this article, small-angle neutron scattering (SANS) has been used to investigate the onset of magnetic order and some aspects of the magnetic microstructure in a series of bulk amorphous rare-earth iron alloys prepared by DC rapid sputtering.
