TL;DR: An experiment resulting in the first measurement of the isospin-mixing, charge-symmetry violating component of the n-italic-p-ITALic interaction has been performed and determined the difference in the angles of the zero crossing of the neutron and proton analyzing powers.

TL;DR: In this article, the TRIUMF polarized neutron beam facility was upgraded for use in high precision neutron scattering experiments, which was used to determine charge symmetry breaking in n−p elastic scattering, to study neutron radiative capture by hydrogen, and a measurement of the spin correlation parameter Ann.
Journal ArticleDOI
Detection equipment for a test of charge symmetry in n−p elastic scattering
R. Abegg,R. Abegg,J. Birchall,E. Cairns,H. Coombes,C.A. Davis,N.E. Davison,P.W. Green,L.G. Greeniaus,L.G. Greeniaus,H.P. Gubler,W.P. Lee,W.J. McDonald,C. A. Miller,C. A. Miller,G.A. Moss,G.R. Plattner,P.R. Poffenberger,G. Roy,J. Soukup,J.P. Svenne,R. Tkachuk,W. T. H. van Oers,Y.P. Zhang +23 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a detection device was developed to allow precision measurements of n−p elastic scattering of 150 to 500 MeV polarized neutron beams at TRIUMF with a precision of ± 0.001.
Journal ArticleDOI

TL;DR: In this article, the polarization of a proton target was determined with elastic neutron-proton scattering at 477 MeV and the results agree well with the nuclear magnetic resonance measurements at the error level of 4%.
