Journal ArticleDOI
Guidelines for the Treatment of Hypothyroidism: Prepared by the American Thyroid Association Task Force on Thyroid Hormone Replacement
Jacqueline Jonklaas,Antonio C. Bianco,Andrew J. Bauer,Kenneth D. Burman,Anne R. Cappola,Francesco S. Celi,David S. Cooper,Brian W. Kim,Robin P. Peeters,M. Sara Rosenthal,Anna M. Sawka +10 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that levothyroxine should remain the standard of care for treating hypothyroidism and no consistently strong evidence for the superiority of alternative preparations is found.
Journal ArticleDOI
Outcomes of patients with differentiated thyroid carcinoma following initial therapy.
Jacqueline Jonklaas,Nicholas J. Sarlis,Nicholas J. Sarlis,Danielle R. Litofsky,Kenneth B. Ain,S. Thomas Bigos,James D. Brierley,David S. Cooper,Bryan R. Haugen,Paul W. Ladenson,James Magner,Jacob Robbins,Douglas S. Ross,Monica C. Skarulis,Harry R. Maxon,Steven I. Sherman +15 more
TL;DR: It is confirmed that near-total thyroidectomy is indicated in high-risk patients and radioactive iodine therapy is beneficial for stage II, III, and IV patients, and it is shown for the first time that superior outcomes are associated with aggressive thyroid hormone suppression therapy in high risk patients, but are achieved with modest suppression in stage II patients.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cushing’s Syndrome during Pregnancy: Personal Experience and Review of the Literature
TL;DR: Investigation and treatment of patients with pituitary-dependent Cushing's syndrome during pregnancy over a 15-yr period and review of 136 previous reports suggest that surgery may achieve remission during pregnancy, but the prognosis for the fetus remains guarded.
Journal ArticleDOI
Trimester-specific changes in maternal thyroid hormone, thyrotropin, and thyroglobulin concentrations during gestation: trends and associations across trimesters in iodine sufficiency.
Offie P. Soldin,R.E. Tractenberg,J.G. Hollowell,Jacqueline Jonklaas,N. Janicic,Steven J. Soldin +5 more
TL;DR: Trends suggest that trimester-specific measurements of T(3), FT(4), Tg, and possibly TSH are warranted, and with two exceptions, analyte concentrations tended not to be correlated at each trimester and at 1-year postpartum.
Journal ArticleDOI
Recurrence after treatment of micropapillary thyroid cancer
Douglas S. Ross,Danielle R. Litofsky,Kenneth B. Ain,Thomas Bigos,James D. Brierley,David S. Cooper,Bryan R. Haugen,Jacqueline Jonklaas,Paul W. Ladenson,James Magner,Jacob Robbins,Monica C. Skarulis,David L. Steward,Harry R. Maxon,Steven I. Sherman +14 more
TL;DR: A randomized, controlled trial is necessary and feasible to determine if radioiodine ablation of thyroid remnants is advantageous in patients with intrathyroidal micropapillary cancer.
