TL;DR: For continuous-time nonlinear deterministic system models with discrete nonlinear measurements in additive Ganssian white noise, the extended Kalman filter (EKF) convariance propagation equations linearized about the true unknown trajectory provide the Cramer-Rao lower bound to the estimation error covariance matrix as discussed by the authors.
Abstract: For continuous-time nonlinear deterministic system models with discrete nonlinear measurements in additive Ganssian white noise, the extended Kalman filter (EKF) convariance propagation equations linearized about the true unknown trajectory provide the Cramer-Rao lower bound to the estimation error covariance matrix. A useful application is establishing the optimum filter performance for a given nonlinear estimation problem by developing a simulation of the nonlinear system and an EKF linearized about the true trajectory.

Abstract: The consumer purchase decision process has been the subject of much research since the frequently quoted Katona-Mueller inquiry of 1954.' There have been studies of the amount of consumer information seeking;2 the types of information sought;3 and the sources consulted.4 One of the reasons the studies are of interest is that their findings frequently have been assumed to be related to consumer satisfaction. For example, it is commonly thought that a positive relationship exists between (a) amount of information sought and (b) buyer satisfaction. The latter, however, seldom has been addressed directly. The research reported here was undertaken to help fill that void by finding out how satisfied or dissatisfied consumers were with their experiences in arriving at purchase decisions. The findings are timely because serious questions are being raised about consumer welfare despite the wide acceptance by business of the customer-oriented philosophy implied by the "marketing concept.'"" Buyers have been pictured by critics as being frustrated

TL;DR: The dynamic range of operation of Photochron I and Photochron II picosecond streak cameras is shown to depend upon the time-resolution employed, and this increases to a value of 180 for 30-ps events.
Abstract: The dynamic range of operation of Photochron I and Photochron II picosecond streak cameras is shown to depend upon the time‐resolution employed. For events ∼2 ps a useful dynamic range of 30 is obtainable, and this increases to a value of 180 for 30‐ps events. No accumulative saturation effects occur at a time resolution as short as 2 ps.

TL;DR: In this paper, it was shown that the calculated equilibrium isotope effect (1.0058/sub 4/ +- 0.0001/sub 1/) and observed equilibrium KIE are nearly identical when the solvolysis of p-methylbenzyl chloride is forced toward a limiting case with 97% trifluoroethanol as solvent.
Abstract: Use of the Winstein scheme to describe ion pairing leads to the conclusion that chlorine kinetic isotope effects (KIE) are primarily responsive to processes involving the covalently bound chlorine and less indicative of reactions which occur after the formation of the initial ion pair. This conclusion has been tested by showing that the calculated equilibrium isotope effect (1.0057) and observed (1.0059/sub 6/ +- 0.0001/sub 1/) KIE are nearly identical when the solvolysis of p-methylbenzyl chloride is forced toward a limiting case with 97% trifluoroethanol as solvent. The reaction of p-phenoxybenzyl chloride showed similar behavior with an equilibrium KIE value of 1.0058/sub 4/ +- 0.0001/sub 1/. These results suggest that competing ion-pair and S/sub N/2 processes may be one factor contributing to Hammett plot curvature for these nucleophilic displacement reactions. Chloride KIE values for the reaction of n-butyl chloride with thiophenoxide anion, where ion pairing does not occur, show little variation with a wide variety of solvents. 3 tables.
