Journal ArticleDOI
Development of advanced high heat flux and plasma-facing materials
Ch. Linsmeier,Michael Rieth,Jarir Aktaa,Takumi Chikada,Anna Rebecca Hoffmann,Jan Hoffmann,A. Houben,Hiroaki Kurishita,Xue Zhou Jin,M. Li,Andrey Litnovsky,S. Matsuo,A. von Müller,Vladica Nikolić,T. Palacios,Reinhard Pippan,D. Qu,J. Reiser,Johann Riesch,T. Shikama,Robert Stieglitz,T. Weber,T. Weber,Stefan Wurster,Jeong-Ha You,Zhangjian Zhou +25 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors describe the requirements and needs for new, advanced materials for the fusion-facing components of a tokamak/or stellarator reactor, including fiber-reinforced and laminated structures, and mechanically alloyed tungsten materials.
Journal ArticleDOI
Ductilisation of tungsten (W): On the shift of the brittle-to-ductile transition (BDT) to lower temperatures through cold rolling
Jens Reiser,Jan Hoffmann,U. Jäntsch,Michael Klimenkov,Simon Bonk,Carsten Bonnekoh,Michael Rieth,Andreas Hoffmann,Tobias Mrotzek +8 more
TL;DR: In this article, it was shown that cold rolling decreased the brittle-to-ductile transitions (BDT) temperature of tungsten (W) plates and that the BDT temperature correlates with the grain size following a Hall-Petch-like equation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Mechanical and microstructural investigations of tungsten and doped tungsten materials produced via powder injection molding
Steffen Antusch,David E.J. Armstrong,T. Ben Britton,Lorelei Commin,James S.K.-L. Gibson,H. Greuner,Jan Hoffmann,Wolfram Knabl,Gerald Pintsuk,Michael Rieth,Steve G. Roberts,Tobias Weingaertner +11 more
TL;DR: In this article, the characterization and analyses of prototype materials produced via powder injection molding (PIM) are described. But the results of the analysis are limited to four-point bend (4-PB) analysis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Fabrication and characterization of oxide dispersion strengthened (ODS) 14Cr steels consolidated by means of hot isostatic pressing, hot extrusion and spark plasma sintering
I. Hilger,I. Hilger,X. Boulnat,Jan Hoffmann,Claudio Testani,Frank Bergner,Y. de Carlan,F. Ferraro,A. Ulbricht +8 more
TL;DR: In this article, the feasibility of ODS steel fabrication by means of spark plasma sintering on a semi-industrial scale was demonstrated, where hot extrusion was successfully applied to produce a 2.5 kilogram batch of high-chromium steels.
Journal ArticleDOI
Ductilisation of tungsten (W): Tungsten laminated composites
Jens Reiser,Lauren M. Garrison,H. Greuner,Jan Hoffmann,Tobias Weingärtner,U. Jäntsch,Michael Klimenkov,Peter Franke,Simon Bonk,Carsten Bonnekoh,Sven Sickinger,Siegfried Baumgärtner,Daniel Bolich,Mirjam Hoffmann,R. Ziegler,Joachim Konrad,Jörg Hohe,Andreas Hoffmann,Tobias Mrotzek,Martin Seiss,Michael Rieth,Anton Möslang +21 more
TL;DR: In this article, the mechanisms of plastic deformation and fracture of tungsten laminated composites are elucidated by means of three-point bending, Charpy impact, and tensile tests.
