TL;DR: In this article, the excess molar volumes for binary mixtures of eight aliphatic amino alcohols with 1,4-dioxane were determined from density measurements at 293.1 K by means of a vibrating tube densimeter.
Abstract: Excess molar volumes, V m E , for binary mixtures of eight aliphatic amino alcohols (2-aminoethanol 3-amino-1-propanol, 4-amino-1-butanol, 5-amino-1-pentanol, 2-amino-1-propanol, 1-amino-2-propanol, 2-amino-2-methyl-1-propanol, and 2-amino-1-butanol) with 1,4-dioxane have been determined from the density measurements at 293.1 K by means of a vibrating tube densimeter

TL;DR: In this article, the static dielectric constants and the optical birefringence for four members of the homologous series of bicyclo[2, 2,2] octane derivatives with -NCS terminal group (pentyl to octyl) have been measured as a function of temperature.
Abstract: The static dielectric constants and the optical birefringence for four members of the homologous series of bicyclo[2,2,2]octane derivatives with -NCS terminal group (pentyl to octyl) have been measured as a function of temperature. From the dielectric anisotropy, the optical birefringence as well as the polarized absorption spectra of the dichroic dye dissolved in the liquid crystalline host the order parameter has been determined. The results obtained by using various experimental methods have been compared with those calculated from the Maier-Saupe mean field theory. It has been found that the order parameter for the successive homologues shows alternation similar to that exhibited for the nematic-isotropic transition temperature.

TL;DR: In this paper, the long-range orientational order of four nematogenic liquid crystals has been determined on the basis of the optical birefringence, the dielectric anisotropy, and the polarized absorption spectra of the dichroic dye dissolved in the liquid crystalline host.
