TL;DR: The draft genome of the black cottonwood tree, Populus trichocarpa, has been reported in this paper, with more than 45,000 putative protein-coding genes identified.
Journal ArticleDOI
Histochemical and biochemical changes in human skeletal muscle with age in sedentary males, age 22--65 years.
TL;DR: Biopsies for histochemical and biochemical analyses were taken from the vastus lateralis muscle of 55 untrained, healthy male subjects from 22 to 65 years of age and found that the type IIB/IIA fibre ratio was inversely related to type I fibres, i.e. subjects rich in type I Fibres had a relatively smaller proportion oftype IIB fibres.
Journal ArticleDOI
Gene discovery in the wood-forming tissues of poplar: Analysis of 5,692 expressed sequence tags

TL;DR: A large-scale production of ESTs from the wood-forming tissues of two poplars, Populus tremula L. x tremuloides Michx.
Journal ArticleDOI
Evidence for a protein transported through the secretory pathway en route to the higher plant chloroplast.

TL;DR: It is shown that a chloroplast-located protein in higher plants takes an alternative route through the secretory pathway, and becomes N-glycosylated before entering the chlorop last.

TL;DR: Analyzing the draft genome of the black cottonwood tree, Populus trichocarpa, revealed a whole-genome duplication event; about 8000 pairs of duplicated genes from that event survived in the Populus genome.
