Journal ArticleDOI

PGE enrichment in chromitite layers and the Merensky Reef of the western Bushveld Complex; a Re-Os and Rb-Sr isotope study.

TL;DR: In this paper, a Re-Os isochron analysis of poikilitic pyroxenites of the Bastard Unit, all relatively low in osmium concentrations, was performed and the results demonstrated an excellent radiogenic Os isotopic homogeneity of this portion of the complex at the time of crystallization.
Journal ArticleDOI

Contemporary flowstone development links early hominin bearing cave deposits in South Africa

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors reported new uranium-lead (U-Pb) radiometric ages obtained from sheets of calcium carbonate flowstone interbedded between clastic cave sediments at the site of Swartkrans, providing bracketing ages for the fossiliferous deposits.
Journal ArticleDOI

Single mineral dating by the PbPb step-leaching method: Assessing the mechanisms

TL;DR: In this paper, a centimenter-sized single crystal of museum-quality titanite was used for stepwise PbPb leaching (PbSL) to date rock-forming silicates directly linked to metamorphic reactions.
Journal ArticleDOI

Lead and strontium isotopes in Cretaceous kimberlites and mantle-derived xenoliths from Southern Africa

TL;DR: In this article, the authors measured the lead isotope ratios of kimberlites and autoliths in the Cretaceous and found a large spread in initial lead ratios.
Journal ArticleDOI

An isotopic and geochemical study of the northern Kaapvaal Craton and the Southern Marginal Zone of the Limpopo Belt: are they juxtaposed terranes?

TL;DR: In this article, the authors studied the lateral accretion models for the Archean Kaapvaal Craton in South Africa, metapelites and leucocratic granitoids from two different provinces.
