McLellan +23 more
TL;DR: High-yield production of a stabilized prefusion spike protein will accelerate the development of vaccines and serological diagnostics for severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2).

Structure-based Design of Prefusion-stabilized SARS-CoV-2 Spikes
Ching-Lin Hsieh,Jory A. Goldsmith,Jeffrey M. Schaub,Andrea M. DiVenere,Hung-Che Kuo,Kamyab Javanmardi,Kevin C. Le,Daniel Wrapp,Alison Gene-Wei Lee,Yutong Liu,Chia-Wei Chou,Patrick O. Byrne,Christy K. TL;DR: Over 100 structure-guided spike variants based upon a previously determined cryo-EM structure of the prefusion SARS-CoV-2 spike are designed and expressed, with the best variant, HexaPro, having six beneficial proline substitutions leading to ∼10-fold higher expression than its parental construct.
Journal ArticleDOI
Hapalindole/Ambiguine Biogenesis Is Mediated by a Cope Rearrangement, C-C Bond-Forming Cascade.
Shasha Li,Andrew N. Lowell,Fengan Yu,Avi Raveh,Sean A. Newmister,Nathan Bair,Jeffrey M. Schaub,Robert M. Williams,Robert M. Williams,David H. Sherman +9 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that FamD2 and FamC1 act in concert to form the tetracyclic core ring system of the hapalindoles from cis-indole isonitrile and geranyl pyrophosphate through a presumed biosynthetic Cope rearrangement and subsequent 6-exo-trig cyclization/electrophilic aromatic substitution reaction.
Journal ArticleDOI
HEDGES error-correcting code for DNA storage corrects indels and allows sequence constraints
TL;DR: The HEDGES (Hash Encoded, Decoded by Greedy Exhaustive Search) error-correcting code is described, a code that repairs all three basic types of DNA errors: insertions, deletions, and substitutions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Systematic Discovery of Endogenous Human Ribonucleoprotein Complexes.
Anna L. Mallam,Wisath Sae-Lee,Jeffrey M. Schaub,Fan Tu,Anna Battenhouse,Yu Jin Jang,Jonghwan Kim,John B. Wallingford,Ilya J. Finkelstein,Edward M. Marcotte,Kevin Drew +10 more
TL;DR: A proteomics method is described for systematic identification of RNP complexes in human cells and identifies 1,428 protein complexes that associate with RNA, indicating that more than 20% of known human protein complexes contain RNA.
