Journal ArticleDOI
N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor antagonist APV blocks acquisition but not expression of fear conditioning.
TL;DR: Effects on fear conditioning are parallel to the in vitro effects of APV on the acquisition but not expression of long-term potentiation (LTP) and suggest that endogenously generated NMDA-dependent LTP participates in the neural plasticity underlying fear conditioning.
Journal ArticleDOI
Different patterns of freezing behavior organized in the periaqueductal gray of rats: Association with different types of anxiety
Marcus Lira Brandão,Janaina Menezes Zanoveli,Janaina Menezes Zanoveli,Raquel C. Ruiz-Martinez,Raquel C. Ruiz-Martinez,Luciana Chrystine Oliveira,Luciana Chrystine Oliveira,Jesus Landeira-Fernandez +7 more
TL;DR: Evidence is presented in support of the hypothesis that whereas dPAG-evoked freezing would serve as a model of panic attacks, thedPAG post-stimulation freezing appears to be a modelOf panic disorder.
Journal ArticleDOI
Does schizoaffective disorder really exist? A systematic review of the studies that compared schizoaffective disorder with schizophrenia or mood disorders.
Elie Cheniaux,Elie Cheniaux,Jesus Landeira-Fernandez,Leonardo Lessa Telles,José Luiz M. Lessa,Allan Dias,Teresa Duncan,Marcio Versiani +7 more
TL;DR: Present analysis indicated that SAD cannot be interpreted as atypical forms of SCH or MD and does not appear to represent a SCH and MD comorbidity or yet an independent mental disorder.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effects of ayahuasca on psychometric measures of anxiety, panic-like and hopelessness in Santo Daime members
Rafael G. dos Santos,Jesus Landeira-Fernandez,R.J. Strassman,V. Motta,Antonio Pedro de Mello Cruz +4 more
TL;DR: The present study investigated the effects of ayahuasca on psychometric measures of anxiety, panic-like and hopelessness in members of the Santo Daime, an Ayahuasca-using religion.
Journal ArticleDOI
Selective impairment of long-term but not short-term conditional fear by the N-methyl-D-aspartate antagonist APV.
TL;DR: The results of a savings test suggest that APV impairs storage rather than retrieval processes, and indicates that there are two temporally distinct associative fear processes, a short-term NMDA-independent conditional fear and a long-termNMDA-dependent conditional fear.
