Elastic networks of the future: benefits for the Colombian internal telecommunication network

TL;DR: In this paper, research advances are reflected concerning optical fiber transmission, including the new paradigm of hybrid fiber optic networks with wireless networks that will simplify the global telecommunications network, which will facilitate competition between communication service providers, avoiding the monopoly of spaces within horizontal property buildings.

Redes ópticas elásticas: un nuevo paradigma en las futuras redes de telecomunicaciones Elastic optical networks: a new paradigm for future telecommunications networks

TL;DR: In the last years, traffic on data optical networks has had an exponential growth due to the increasing demand of information by end users as mentioned in this paper, which had lead to saturation of the current
Journal ArticleDOI

Redes ópticas elásticas: un nuevo paradigma en las futuras redes de telecomunicaciones

TL;DR: In this article, the authors present a comprehensive survey of elastic optical networks, introducing new concepts and describing the challenges and the limitations in these networks, and propose a new concept known as elastic optical network, which proposes a flexible-grid or gridless, where the spectral width changes according to the bandwidth demand and allows optimizing the spectral efficiency with a minimum separation between adjacent channels.
Proceedings ArticleDOI

Scalable Multi-Core FPGA Design for Maximum Concurrency: The Case of KNN for ICI Mitigation

TL;DR: In this article, a multi-core FPGA design of the K-Nearest Neighbohr algorithm for interchannel interference mitigation in gridless Nyquist WDM networks is presented.
Journal ArticleDOI

Redes elásticas del futuro: beneficios para la red interna de telecomunicaciones de Colombia
