TL;DR: In this paper, a lignin poly(N-methylaniline)-graphene oxide (lignin-PNMA-rGO) hydrogel has been prepared by a two-step method.
Abstract: Lignin is one of the major contents of lignocellulose and can be used as feedstock for adsorbent materials for wastewater treatment. Here, a lignin-poly(N-methylaniline)-graphene oxide (lignin-PNMA-rGO) hydrogel has been prepared by a two-step method, microspheres of lignin-PNMA was synthesis by the polymerization of NMA monomer in the presence of lignin in aqueous solution, and then they were encapsulated by the as-prepared reduced graphene oxide (GO) hydrogel via a reduction induced self-assembly of the GO nanosheets. The scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and UV-Vis studies have been carried out and revealed that the formation of the 3D porous nanocomposite hydrogel with multilevel structures and sufficient active sites. The lignin-PNMA-rGO adsorbent exhibited high adsorption capacity for both organic dye methylene blue (MB, 201.7 mg/g) and Pb2+ ion (753.5 mg/g). The new lignin-based adsorbent is a low-cost, environmentally benign, which is an attractive adsorbent for wastewater treatment.

TL;DR: Deep eutectic solvents (DESs) have received widespread attention for their advantages of good electrical conductivity, stability, environmental friendliness, and easy preparation with a wide range of applications.
Abstract: Deep eutectic solvents (DESs) have received widespread attention for their advantages of good electrical conductivity, stability, environmental friendliness, and easy preparation with a wide range of applications. However, it was not until recent years that DESs were used as gel electrolytes as environmentally friendly alternatives to ionic liquids (ILs). In this mini review, we first introduce the DESs related eutectogels (or ion gels), then introduce the types and applications of the gels, the opportunities and challenges of them are also summarized.

TL;DR: The ionic gel is self-healing, and the stretching and conductive performance can be recovered after it is broken, which provide new insights into the design of novel gels in various applications, such as tissue engineering, sensing, and wearable electronics.
Abstract: A deep eutectic solvent (DES) ionic gel is fabricated rapidly under mild conditions. The acrylic acid monomer is polymerized based on a dual self-catalytic system between Vitamin C (VC) and metal ions, such as Fe3+ in the presence of ammonium persulfate in the DES of betaine and ethylene glycol. The as-obtained PAA/DES ionic gel possesses excellent conductivity between 0.1 and 1.3 S m-1 in a wide range of temperatures from 0 to 90 °C. Moreover, it also shows an ultra-stretchable performance with stretch more than 200 times its original length even under a stretching rate of 100 mm min-1 . Besides, it can operate in harsh conditions because of its anti-freezing and anti-drying properties. The ionic gel is self-healing, and the stretching and conductive performance can be recovered after it is broken. These superior properties of the DES ionic gel provide new insights into the design of novel gels in various applications, such as tissue engineering, sensing, and wearable electronics.

TL;DR: In this article, a review of metal-containing dye types and their heavy metal ions pollution from entryway to the wastewater, which briefly explored the effects on human health and the environment is discussed.
Abstract: Textile wastewater heavy metal pollution has become a severe environmental problem worldwide. Metal ion inclusion in a dye molecule exhibits a bathochromic shift producing deeper but duller shades, which provides excellent colouration. The ejection of a massive volume of wastewater containing heavy metal ions such as Cr (VI), Pb (II), Cd (II) and Zn (II) and metal-containing dyes are an unavoidable consequence because the textile industry consumes large quantities of water and all these chemicals cannot be combined entirely with fibres during the dyeing process. These high concentrations of chemicals in effluents interfere with the natural water resources, cause severe toxicological implications on the environment with a dramatic impact on human health. This article reviewed the various metal-containing dye types and their heavy metal ions pollution from entryway to the wastewater, which then briefly explored the effects on human health and the environment. Graphene-based absorbers, specially graphene oxide (GO) benefits from an ordered structured, high specific surface area, and flexible surface functionalization options, which are indispensable to realize a high performance of heavy metal ion removal. These exceptional adsorption properties of graphene-based materials support a position of ubiquity in our everyday lives. The collective representation of the textile wastewater's effective remediation methods is discussed and focused on the GO-based adsorption methods. Understanding the critical impact regarding the GO-based materials established adsorption portfolio for heavy metal ions removal are also discussed. Various heavy-metal ions and their pollutant effect, ways to remove such heavy metal ions and role of graphene-based adsorbent including their demand, perspective, limitation, and relative scopes are discussed elaborately in the review.
