Chirality of Nd-135 reexamined : Evidence for multiple chiral doublet bands

Two new excited bands built on the πh11/2 configuration have been identified in Nd135 in addition to the known πh11/2 band. The energy spectra of the excited bands and the available electromagnetic transition probabilities are in good agreement with theoretical results obtained using quasiparticle-plus-triaxial-rotor model calculations. The properties of the bands identify them as tilted precession bands instead of wobbling bands. Our results give a new insight into the interpretation of the low-lying bands in odd-A mass nuclei, and can stimulate future studies to address the nuclear triaxiality.

Tilted precession bands in Nd 135

The high-spin structure of $^{109}\mathrm{In}$ has been investigated with the $^{100}\mathrm{Mo}(^{14}\mathrm{N}$, $5n)^{109}\mathrm{In}$ reaction at a beam energy of 78 MeV using the in-beam $\ensuremath{\gamma}$ spectroscopic method. The level scheme of $^{109}\mathrm{In}$ has been modified considerably and extended by 46 new $\ensuremath{\gamma}$ rays to the highest excited state at 8.980 MeV and ${J}^{\ensuremath{\pi}}=(45/{2}^{+})$. The new level scheme consists of eight bands, six of which are identified as dipole bands. The configurations have been tentatively assigned with the help of the systematics of neighboring odd-$A$ indium isotopes and the experimental aligned angular momenta. The dipole bands are then compared with the titled axis cranking calculation in the framework of covariant density function theory. The results of theoretical calculations based on the configurations, which involve one proton hole at the ${g}_{9/2}$ orbital and two or four unpaired neutrons at the ${g}_{7/2}$, ${d}_{5/2}$, and ${h}_{11/2}$ orbitals, show that the shape of $^{109}\mathrm{In}$ undergoes an evolution on both $\ensuremath{\beta}$ and $\ensuremath{\gamma}$ deformations, and possible chirality is suggested in $^{109}\mathrm{In}$.

High spin states in 107Ag are studied via the 100Mo(11B, 4n)107 Ag reaction at an incident beam energy of 60 MeV. Prompt γ-γ coincidence and DCO ratios are measured by the detector arrays in CIAE. The level scheme has been updated and a new negative band belonging to 107Ag is identified. The new negative side band has been constructed and its configuration is tentatively assigned to πg9/2 ⊗ νh11/2(g7/2/d5/2).

High spin states in 107Ag have been studied via the 100Mo(11B, 4n)107Ag reaction at a beam energy of 60 MeV on the HI-13 tandem accelerator at the China Institute of Atomic Energy. By analyzing the gamma-gamma coincidence and their DCO ratios, a new level scheme of 107Ag is presented. The structures for the newly constructed bands are briefly discussed and tentatively assigned to be chiral doublet bands.

Quest for Chirality in 107Ag

The high-spin states of 140Pm have been investigated through the reaction 126Te(19F, 5n) at a beam energy of 90 MeV. A previous level scheme based on the 8− isomer has been updated with spin up to 23 . A total of 22 new levels and 41 new transitions were identified. Six collective bands were observed. Five of them were expanded or re-constructed, and one of them was newly identified. The systematic signature splitting and inversion of the yrast πh11/2⊗νh11/2 band in Pr and Pm odd–odd isotopes has been discussed. Based on the systematic comparison, two ΔI = 2 bands were proposed as double-decoupled bands; other two bands with strong ΔI = 1 M1 transitions inside the bands were suggested as oblate bands with γ ~ −60°; another band with large signature splitting has been proposed with oblate-triaxial deformation with γ ~ −90°. The characteristics for these bands have been discussed.

High-spin states and collective band structures in the odd–odd 140Pm nucleus

The high spin states of 106Pd have been populated through the 100Mo(11B, 1p4n)106Pd reaction using a beam energy of 60 MeV provided by the Beijing HI-13 tandem accelerator at China Institute of Atomic Energy. By analyzing the γ-γ coincidence relation and DCO raios of transitions, 3 rotational bands with 13 new states and 22 new γ transitions belonging to 106Pd were constructed. Bands 2 and 3 with negative parity were supposed to build on the νh11/2g7/2 and νh11/2d5/2 configuration, respectively.
