Protein Data Bank (PDB): Database of Three-Dimensional Structural Information of Biological Macromolecules

TL;DR: The Protein Data Bank at Brookhaven National Laboratory, is a database containing experimentally determined three-dimensional structures of proteins, nucleic acids and other biological macromolecules, with approximately 8000 entries.
Journal ArticleDOI

Protein hydration observed by X-ray diffraction. Solvation properties of penicillopepsin and neuraminidase crystal structures.

TL;DR: It is hoped that site-specific radial distribution functions obtained from high-quality diffraction data will produce a picture of macromolecular solvation consistent with available experimental data and computational results.
Journal ArticleDOI

A Conserved Mechanism for Centromeric Nucleosome Recognition by Centromere Protein CENP-C

TL;DR: The findings reveal a conserved mechanism for protein recruitment to centromeres and a histone recognition mode whereby a disordered peptide binds the histone tail through hydrophobic interactions facilitated by nucleosome docking.
