This article presents the input-to-state stability (ISS) and decentralized sliding-mode control of polynomial fuzzy interconnected systems by using the small-gain theorem. The contribution of this article is threefold. First, based on the boundedness of the solution of fuzzy interconnected subsystems, the sufficient conditions for the boundedness fuzzy interconnected system are provided. Second, the ISS small-gain theorem is extended to the polynomial fuzzy interconnected system for the number of membership functions being the same and different, and the trajectory-based ISS small-gain theorem is proposed. Third, the sliding surface based on state feedback is designed, and the stability of sliding-mode motion is analyzed for the fuzzy interconnected system. Finally, the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed method are illustrated by using a numerical example, a spring-connected double inverted pendulum system, and comparison with the existing results.

Decentralized adaptive tracking control for nonlinear large-scale systems with unknown control directions

This paper proposes an adaptive neural network based output feedback backstepping fast terminal sliding mode control (NN-BFTSMC) for continuous polymerization reactor with external disturbances and parametric uncertainties. Firstly, neural networks (NN) are employed to approximate the uncertain nonlinear functions. Next, the average molecular weight and the reactor temperature tracking controllers are designed based on the finite-time NN-BFTSMC. In addition, the NN-BFSMC effectively estimates and compensates the upper bounds of the external disturbances. Moreover, the chattering effect is eliminated without losing the robustness accuracy. The finite-time stability of the closed-loop system is proved by Lyapunov theory. At last, numerical simulations and comparative studies are introduced to illustrate the superior performance of the proposed method.

Neuro-adaptive output feedback control of the continuous polymerization reactor subjected to parametric uncertainties and external disturbances.

In this paper, a consensus framework is proposed for a class of linear multiagent systems subject to matched and unmatched uncertainties in an undirected topology. A linear coordinate transformation is derived so that the consensus protocol design can be conveniently performed. The distributed consensus protocol is developed by using an integral sliding mode strategy. Consensus is achieved asymptotically and all subsystem states are bounded. By using an integral sliding mode control, the subsystems lie on the sliding surface from the initial time, which avoids any sensitivity to uncertainties during the reaching phase. By use of an appropriate projection matrix, the size of the equivalent control required to maintain sliding is reduced which reduces the conservatism of the design. MATLAB simulations validate the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed method.

Consensus Control for a Class of Linear Multiagent Systems using a Distributed Integral Sliding Mode Strategy

In this paper, a class of interconnected systems is considered, where the nominal isolated systems are fully nonlinear. A robust decentralized sliding mode control based on static state feedback is developed. By local coordinate transformation and feedback linearization, the interconnected system is transformed to a new regular form. A composite sliding surface which is a function of the system state variables is proposed and the stability of the corresponding sliding mode dynamics is analyzed. A new reachability condition is proposed and a robust decentralized sliding mode control is then designed to drive the system states to the sliding surface in finite time and maintain a sliding motion thereafter. Both uncertainties and interconnections are allowed to be unmatched and are assumed to be bounded by nonlinear functions. The bounds on the uncertainties and interconnections have more general forms when compared with existing work. A MATLAB simulation example is used to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Dynamic output feedback sliding mode control for non-minimum phase systems with application to an inverted pendulum

The continuous stirred tank reactor (CSTR) is representative of a typical class of chemical equipment, where the dynamics is strongly nonlinear. Two difficult issues in control of a CSTR are the difficulty of accurate modeling and the suppression of external disturbances. Driven by these challenging issues and demanding expectations around performance levels, this paper proposes a control solution based on the model-free data-driven linearization method and sliding mode control. After giving the corresponding stability proof, the effectiveness of the method is validated by MATLAB simulation. Experimental results are also presented to further test the proposed method.

Model-free Adaptive Sliding Mode Control for Continuous Stirred Tank Reactor

The efficient control of nonlinear processes is generally considered to be challenging. The development of digital computers promotes the study of nonlinear process control technology. Due to the discrete sampling of digital computer, it is necessary to develop the corresponding control algorithms for nonlinear processes. In this paper, a new equivalent control-based discrete-time sliding mode control is proposed for a class of nonlinear process with uncertainty and external disturbance. An adaptive law and a disturbance observer are designed to estimate the uncertainty and the disturbance, respectively. By combining with them, the new discrete-time sliding mode control is developed with good performance. The corresponding theoretical analysis is well verified by using Lyapunov function. Finally, the proposed approach is demonstrated by case studies in light of MATLAB.
