TL;DR: The development of highly polymorphic simple sequence repeat (SSR) markers originated from whole genome shotgun sequencing and the subsequent construction of a high-density genetic linkage map will facilitate whole genome sequencing, positional cloning, and molecular breeding in cucumber, and enable the integration of knowledge of gene and trait in cucurbits.
Journal ArticleDOI
Centromere repositioning in cucurbit species: Implication of the genomic impact from centromere activation and inactivation
TL;DR: Both centromere activation and inactivation in cucurbit species were associated with a gain/loss of a large amount of pericentromeric heterochromatin.
Journal ArticleDOI
Divergence in centromere structure distinguishes related genomes in Coix lacryma-jobi and its wild relative
TL;DR: The sequences of one centromere-associated bacterial artificial chromosome clone from a Coix lacryma-jobi library are reported, indicating that the 153-bp satellite repeat and CRC might be both the major components for functional centromeres, but not all the 153 -bp satellite repeats or CRC sequences are associated with CENH3.
