Journal ArticleDOI
Inhibition of CDK4/6 as a novel therapeutic option for neuroblastoma
TL;DR: It is shown that pharmacological inhibition of cyclin D1 dependent kinases 4/6 with PD 0332991 with palbociclib reduced the growth of neuroblastoma cell lines, induced G1 cell cycle arrest, and inhibited the cyclIn D1-Rb pathway.
Journal ArticleDOI
Genome wide expression profiling of p53 regulated miRNAs in neuroblastoma.
Ali Rihani,Alan Van Goethem,Maté Ongenaert,Sara De Brouwer,Pieter-Jan Volders,Saurabh Agarwal,Katleen De Preter,Pieter Mestdagh,Jason M. Shohet,Franki Speleman,Jo Vandesompele,Tom Van Maerken +11 more
TL;DR: It is observed that these p53-regulated miRNAs inhibit the proliferation of neuroblastoma cells to varying degrees, with the most profound growth inhibition recorded for miR-182-5p.
Journal ArticleDOI
Structure and mutation analysis of the gene encoding DNA fragmentation factor 40 (caspase-activated nuclease), a candidate neuroblastoma tumour suppressor gene.
Hannah Judson,Nadine Van Roy,Lisa Strain,Jo Vandesompele,Mireille Van Gele,Frank Speleman,David T. Bonthron +6 more
TL;DR: The lack of imprinting and absence of somatic mutations in DFFB indicate that it is probably not the neuroblastoma tumour suppressor gene, and exhaustive mutation screening of 41 neuroblastomas and other tumours in which a 1p36 tumour suppressing gene is implicated showed no tumour-specific mutations.
Journal ArticleDOI
Long noncoding RNA signatures define oncogenic subtypes in T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
Annelynn Wallaert,Kaat Durinck,W Van Loocke,I Van de Walle,Filip Matthijssens,Pieter-Jan Volders,F Avila Cobos,Dries Rombaut,Pieter Rondou,Pieter Mestdagh,Jo Vandesompele,Bruce Poppe,Tom Taghon,Jean Soulier,P. Van Vlierberghe,Franki Speleman +15 more
TL;DR: Long noncoding RNA signatures define oncogenic subtypes in T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia and provide a basis for classifying these subtypes by disease states.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cost-effective and robust genotyping using double-mismatch allele-specific quantitative PCR
Steve Lefever,Ali Rihani,Ali Rihani,Joni Van der Meulen,Filip Pattyn,Tom Van Maerken,Jo Van Dorpe,Jan Hellemans,Jo Vandesompele +8 more
TL;DR: The resulting method, called double-mismatch allele-specific qPCR (DMAS-qPCR), was successfully validated using 12 SNPs and 15 clinically relevant somatic mutations on 48 cancer cell lines and is characterized by high analytical sensitivity and specificity.
