A longitudinal study integrating population, care and social services data. The Swedish National study on Aging and Care (SNAC).
Mårten Lagergren,Laura Fratiglioni,Ingalill Rahm Hallberg,Johan Berglund,Sölve Elmståhl,Bo Hagberg,Göran Holst,Mikael Rennemark,Britt-Marie Sjölund,Mats Thorslund,Ingvar Wiberg,Bengt Winblad,Anders Wimo +12 more
TL;DR: The Swedish National study on Aging and Care is expected to generate a rich data base relevant for future research on aging and care and to have a direct impact on the future Swedish system of care and services for the elderly.

Effects of n−6 PUFAs compared with SFAs on liver fat, lipoproteins, and inflammation in abdominal obesity: a randomized controlled trial
Helena Bjermo,David Iggman,Joel Kullberg,Ingrid Dahlman,Lars Johansson,Lena Persson,Johan Berglund,Kari Pulkki,Samar Basu,Matti Uusitupa,Mats Rudling,Peter Arner,Tommy Cederholm,Håkan Ahlström,Ulf Risérus +14 more
TL;DR: Compared with SFA intake, n-6 PUFAs reduce liver fat and modestly improve metabolic status, without weight loss.
Journal ArticleDOI
An Epidemiologic Study of Lyme Disease in Southern Sweden
Johan Berglund,R Eitrem,Katharina Ornstein,A Lindberg,A Ringér,H Elmrud,M Carlsson,A Runehagen,C Svanborg,Ragnar Norrby +9 more
TL;DR: Lyme disease is very common in southern Sweden, with a relatively high frequency of neurologic complications and arthritis, and the pattern of disease was similar to that reported in the United States.
Journal ArticleDOI
Sequence typing reveals extensive strain diversity of the Lyme borreliosis agents Borrelia burgdorferi in North America and Borrelia afzelii in Europe
TL;DR: It is concluded that B. burgdorferi and B. afzelii have greater genetic diversity than had previously been estimated, and that the IGS locus alone is sufficient for strain typing and phylogenetic studies.
Journal ArticleDOI
Determination of Novel Borrelia Genospecies in Swedish Ixodes ricinus Ticks
TL;DR: It is concluded that all of the known human-pathogenic species (B. burgdorferi sensu stricto) and B. valaisiana found elsewhere in Europe are also present in the Swedish host-seeking tick population and that a B. miyamotoi-like Borrelia species seems to be present in I. ricinus ticks in Europe.
