Proceedings ArticleDOI

Optimal design of a 3.5 kV/11kW DC-DC converter for charging capacitor banks of power modulators

TL;DR: In this paper, a combination of AC-DC and DC-DC converter is proposed, whereas the mains voltage is rectified by a three-phase buck-boost converter to 400Vdc and thereafter an isolated DCDC converter charges the input capacitor bank of the power modulator up to 3.5 kV.
Journal ArticleDOI

Characterization of Electromagnetic Rotor Material Properties and Their Impact on an Ultra-High Speed Spinning Ball Motor

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated the relationship between the relative permeability and conductivity of the rotor material and the achievable active magnetic bearing force and angular acceleration, and measured results for complete hysteresis curves of different rotor steels were presented.
Journal ArticleDOI

A Wide Air Gap Flux Switching Bearingless Motor With Odd and Even Pole Pair Numbers

TL;DR: In this article, a bearingless motor topology with a magnet-free rotor that provides a higher rotor torque density and wider magnetic air gap compared to previously published topologies is presented.
