Journal ArticleDOI

A sensitive recording dew‐balance

TL;DR: In this article, the authors describe a continuous record on photographic paper of the change in weight of a naturally exposed grass surface, 330 cm2 in area, and the sensitivity is 2 mg cm−1 per cm of record and the time scale is 0.5 hr/cm.
Journal ArticleDOI

Latent heat of vaporization in thermal physiology.

TL;DR: The transfer of latent heat from an animal to its environment is often estimated by multiplying the loss in weight attributable to evaporation by the latent heat of vaporization of water, λ, which decreases from 2,501 J/g at 0° C to 2,406 J/G at 40° C.
Journal ArticleDOI

Above- and below-ground interactions in a leucaena/millet alley cropping system. I : Experimental design, instrumentation and diurnal trends

TL;DR: In this article, the microclimatic changes associated with alley cropping were investigated in a semi-arid area of India during the 1986 and 1987 rainy seasons in treatments SM, SL and LM5.
